BETTY (ELIZABETH) STEFANIK
(nee FELEDECHUK)

Mom passed peacefully on September 15, 2021 at 96 years of age. Born on January 6, 1925, she made her way from Gardenton, MB to marry Joe Stefanik in St. Andrews, where she resided most of her life.
She is predeceased by her husband Joe; her son Ron; brothers, George and Alec Feledechuk; sisters, Rose Lee, Kay Nickerson and Jean Garnett; sisters-in-law, Elsie Tocholke and brother-in-law Ron Tocholke; also, her sister-in-law and good friend Betty Feledechuk.
Mourning her loss are son Larry Stefanik; brother Nick Feledechuk; sister Marie Pretula and good friend Bertha Ladobruk; daughter-in-law Olive Stefanik; grandsons, Geoff (Shelley) Stefanik and Jay (Ruby) Stefanik; granddaughters, Tammy (Rob) Pike and Jennifer Stefanik; sister-in-law Bernice Feledechuk; sister-in-law Sonia Gulbis, as well as great-grandchildren, Brooke, Jessica, Keria, Liam, Gregory, Ashlyn, Derek, Carson, Gracie and another due in November.
Mom was a hard-working lady all her life, caring for family and always putting our needs before her own. The matron and back-bone of the Stefanik family, she never gave up and, some might say, she was a bit stubborn. She chose to live out her life at her residence, entering the hospital for the last brief stage of her life. Whether enjoying a treat from A&W, or dolling-up to go out to the casino, she loved life and was always ready with a quick comment for those she cared about. She'll be greatly missed to all who knew her.
Funeral service will be held 10:00 a.m., Thursday, September 23 at Glen Eden Funeral Home, 4477 Main Street, with interment, next to Dad, to follow. All Covid restrictions in place, 100 people indoors with masks and 500 at the gravesite.
Honorary Pallbearers are Marie Pretula, Nick Feledechuk, Bertha Ladobruk, Bill Skromeda, Shirley Kalinsky and Violet Pelc.
Active Pallbearers are Larry, Geoff, Jay and Jessica Stefanik, Rod Feledechuk and Rob Pike.
Mom believed in the Shriner's Hospital, what they did for her son through trying years. In her memory, we would like any donations made to Hearthstone Community Group - caring for individuals with disabilities:

Condolences & Memories (9 entries)

  • I remember Aunt Betty as the strongest of the Feledechuks. Always a positive attitude, stubborn determination, and a gigantic heart. Growing up as your neighbor, I always had my auntie, as I did my uncle Joe, and looked forward to going across the field for a haircut in the basement or some radishes from the garden. She taught me a "life skill" making Kleenex flowers for the wedding cars! Only good memories. Cousin Darrel - Posted by: Darrel (Nephew) on: Sep 29, 2021
