TERRY ROSS MCFADDEN
May 27, 1950 - September 19, 2021

Terry passed away peacefully at Riverview Health Centre Sunday morning.
Last year, Terry laid to rest his loving wife of fifty years, Jo-Anne. He was also predeceased by his parents, Calvin "Kelly" and Phyllis and leaves to remember his life, siblings, Fay (Jesse) and Brad (Laura); as well as his sons, Brock (Anna), Colin and Kegan and grandson Shae.
Born in Glenboro, Manitoba, Terry was a hard-working kid that played baseball and had a mind for solving problems. He went on to forge a successful career as a software developer, having co-founded Spectra Computers in the 1980s. He was devoted to providing a good life for his family and instilled in his children the nuance of a teasing joke. Terry would unwind over a round of golf, a game of backgammon or dominos and enjoyed reading old Westerns. Terry and Jo-Anne loved having dogs in their home and over the decades cared for several.
One of Terry's last wishes, was to sit in the garden and watch the dogs play.
In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to a local animal shelter.

Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • My condolences to the Mcfadden family. Terry's talents as an information technology professional were outstanding. I just heard about his and Joanne's passing. They will be missed. - Posted by: Doug Rive (co-worker) on: Nov 22, 2023

  • Just heard the sad news that Terry had passed and Joanne the year before. My sincerest condolences Brock, Colin and Kegan. Terry and met when I joined Group West in the late 70s where he was the lead software developer, before we started Spectra. We were simpatico at every level, as co-workers, partners and friends who both shared a love of family. Terry had a great sense of humour and quiet demeanor, he was a pleasure to be with in any setting, except when he always beat me at golf, but he was gracious winner. Terry was the key business partner in my life, without his loyalty, dedication and skills Spectra would not have achieved the international success it did. Rest in peace my friend, I will miss you always. - Posted by: Del Dunford (Friend ) on: Dec 05, 2021

  • Terry and I worked together at Spectra for 13 years and formed a strong friendship outside work, along with our spouses. He enjoyed playing pool and I recall ever beating him, LOL. We spent many evenings having supper at their place because Jo was such a tremendous cook and lots of days around their pool where their sweet pitbull Menace was always not far behind. We lost track of each other for several years, but when I found out, quite by accident, that Jo passed away, I reconnected with him and we had a nice chat and a few drinks around the pool one afternoon/evening. One Xmas our company party was at Ray & Jerry's and when we were leaving, Terry was so blitzed (the only time I ever saw him like that) he did a face plant into a snow bank. OMG, I laughed so hard I nearly cried. Great memories! My condolences to his family. - Posted by: Clay Cracklen (Friend/Former Colleague at Spectra) on: Oct 22, 2021

  • Condolences to Terry's family. Just heard the sad news. We knew both Terry and Jo-Ann during the school years. Our parents were friends with Kelly & Phyllis. To Fay - sorry for the loss of your brother. Our deepest sympathy. - Posted by: Tim & Valerie Truelove (Davidson); Allan Davidson (Friends) on: Oct 20, 2021

  • I worked with Terry at Spectra for many years and have many happy memories of the good times. I also knew Jo-Ann and I was so sorry to hear about their passing. I left Manitoba in 1999 and now living in Ontario so I lost touch with the people I worked with. A friend sent this to me and I am truly sorry for their sons, my condolences to them and Rest In Peace Terry. - Posted by: Margaret Parke (Friend) on: Oct 03, 2021

  • So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. He was a gentle soul and I know he will be truly missed. Thinking of you all, Brock, Colin and Kegan. Sending our sincere condolences. - Posted by: Sandi & Glen Mitchell (Old friends) on: Sep 30, 2021

  • Please accept our deepest sympathies on the passing of your father/grandfather. He was by far one of the kindest people I had the pleasure of knowing, going back almost 40 years. He was so very proud of you and took great joy in telling us of all your accomplishments and adventures--human and canine alike. May you find solace in the good memories you hold and strength to help you through this very sad and difficult time.
