DONALD (DON) ROY ENMAN
November 19, 1945 - July 5, 2021

Suddenly, following a surgery, Don passed away on Monday, July 5, 2021.
He is survived by his aunts, Margaret (Peggy) Rodway and Doris Ross, and by his cousins, Carol Kay, Sandy Thompson (Gordon), Carol Smith (Gary), Janice Dantzer (Mark), Hugh Ross (Christine), Cathy Rodway, Megan Rodway (Ed), and numerous second and third cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, Donna and Roy Enman, and by his brother Barrie Enman.
Don grew up in the Norwood area of Winnipeg where he attended Norwood schools and graduated from Nelson McIntyre Collegiate in 1963. In his youth, he spent many good times with family and friends at the family cottage at Falcon Lake. After high school, Don worked a variety of jobs, including Hudson Bay Mining and Smelting in Flin Flon and as a taxi driver in Winnipeg. He then attended the University of Manitoba, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Master of Social Work Degree. Over the years, Don was employed with Addictions Foundation of Manitoba and St. Boniface Hospital, specifically assisting patients dealing with kidney failure and dialysis.
Don was a social person who participated in many sports and activities over the course of his lifetime. In university, he was a competitive curler and was a member of the team who won the Centennial University Curling Event in Calgary in 1967. He was also a longtime member of the St. Boniface Golf Club. In his early years, he was an avid runner and latterly preferred to walk long distances whenever he could. Don was a voracious reader who in retirement audited English Literature courses. He travelled regularly to Calgary and Crimson Lake for annual family golf tournaments, get-togethers, and celebrations. Don's happy place was undoubtedly Negril, Jamaica. He travelled there many times, often more than once a year, to escape winter and enjoy Caribbean life. Alcoholics Anonymous was an important part in Don's life as he found his way to recovery, and, for many years, used his experience to support and mentor others dealing with alcohol addiction.
Cremation has taken place. A memorial in honour of Don's life will be held Saturday, October 2, 2021 at 9:30 a.m. at Thomson Funeral Home, 669 Broadway. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, attendance will be invitation only and masks are required. All are welcome to attend the interment which will follow at Elmwood Cemetery.
