NELSON HARCUS
January 28, 1939 – September 19, 2021

Peacefully on Sunday, September 19, 2021, Nelson passed away.
He is survived by his sisters-in-law, Olga Olender and Mae Harcus, nieces and nephews, Evelyn, Sherry (Terry), Don, Jo-Ann (Curt), Bonnie (Darren), Michael (Betty Ann), and his great-nieces and nephews. Also survived by cousins, Bud (Terry), Margaret (Bill), and Barb (Tom). He was the youngest of his family and now joins his parents, James and Evelyn and brothers, Douglas, Don, and Joe. Sadly, he was recently predeceased by great-nephew Cody Ryback.
Nelson grew up in Lockport on the 'Avenue' and had many memories and stories of days gone by with friends and his brothers. For several years Nelson made British Columbia his home and will be remembered by his second family Dwayne Wiesner and daughter Jhanine and sons, Dean and Derek to whom he was known as grandpa to.
Our family is forever grateful for the loving care provided by the Tudor House over the past nine years, the entire staff was his family. He had his favourites, and you know who you are. When he was having an off day, you were always able to turn things around with some humour and tough love.
Private graveside service has taken place at St. Andrews on the Red.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Tudor House Personal Care Home - Recreation Fund, 800 Manitoba Ave., Selkirk, MB R1A 2C8.

Condolences may be left on
Nelson's memorial page at www.interlakecremation.ca.

Arrangements entrusted to

Condolences & Memories (3 entries)

  • I’ve known Nelson for over 40 yrs and had many great times with him out in BC. He was more like a second dad to me than a friend, giving me advice whenever needed and always playing a big part in our families life. We worked together also for a few yrs and I acquired a lot of great tips on cleaning etc. Our memories together with him will always be cherished!!!! R.I.P. my old friend. - Posted by: Dwayne (Dear friend) on: Sep 30, 2021

  • I'm so very thankful for the time our family spent with "Grandpa Nellie" over the many years he lived in BC. Nelson was always with us on weekends and was included in our family vacations (Camping in Tofino was especially fun...although we couldn't get him to wear shorts at the beach!). We enjoyed celebrating holidays and birthdays, gardening, and watching BC Lions football. He tought me a lot when it came to cleaning tips and tricks, along with cooking (his pot roast dinners were my favorite!)...and how to properly throw a football! We will miss you dearly grandpa Nellie, I will cherish the memories forever! Love you always 💓 Jhanine Camp - Posted by: Jhanine Camp ("Granddaughter") on: Sep 29, 2021
