OREST WILLIAM DOBINSKY

It is with great sadness that the family of Orest William Dobinsky announce his passing during the night of September 19, 2021. Orest passed away peacefully beside his wife and best friend Karren Foster in their home at the age of 80.
Orest is survived by his son Dan; stepdaughters, Heather and Shelley; sisters, Vera and Gloria; and many nieces and nephews and all of their family.
Orest was born in small town McCreary, MB. At a young age he left home for school and work, and as opportunities arose he found himself in Winnipeg working in an autobody garage. With his hardwork and dedication it lead to his career as an autobody instructor at Red River College.
Besides working and spending time with family, Orest had a zest for life! He loved music, playing and inspiring, and enjoyed preforming many concerts at retirement communities and various events! He loved sports, and loved visiting with all his friends at the Pembina curling club. He enjoyed camping, being a hockey dad, and was really starting to love heading to Puerto Vallarta with Karren for the winter!
Cremation only will be held at this time due to covid, and a Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.

  • Sad to hear of Orest's passing. Thought of calling him many times to catch up, sorry now that I didn't. Was a student of his back in the early 70s. Once we resolved our initial argument about whether or not I really needed short hair to fix dents in cars... we became friends for the duration of the course and I appreciated all that I learned from the man. Anytime we bumped into one another later in life there was always a pleasant and friendly conversation. Orest was one of the good ones and I'm sure he will be missed. My condolences to all his family and friends... - Posted by: John Prest (Former student) on: Oct 10, 2021
