JANICE GRACE JACOBUCCI
(nee PADDOCK)
October 26, 1947 - September 30, 2021

After a courageous battle with cancer, Janice passed away peacefully at St. Boniface Hospital on September 30, 2021 with her family by her side.
Janice was born in Glenboro, Manitoba in 1947 to Stanley and Beatrice Paddock (nee Edgar) and spent her first few years of life in Baldur, Manitoba. She moved with her parents and brother Clive to Winnipeg in 1949 and spent many years living on Downing Street, attending school at Principal Sparling, Sargent Park and Tec-Voc where she began incredible friendships that would last a lifetime. It was during these years that she met Joe Jacobucci. He entered her life as a friend of Clive's, but in time would win her heart and in 1969 they married.
During their first years of marriage, Janice worked at Air Canada and took advantage of the opportunity to travel with Joe to Europe and Florida before settling down and raising three children. While the children were young, Janice stayed at home and ventured back into the workforce as the children grew up. She spent most of her career working as a secretary at St. James Collegiate and enjoyed interacting with the students and staff and made many dear friends.
After retiring, Janice and Joe renewed their desire to travel and would visit family in British Columbia and spent a number of winters in Mesa, Arizona and accomplished a lifelong dream of touring the Canadian east coast.
Janice enjoyed spending her summers at Netley Creek watching the kids grow and developing a love for knitting. She enjoyed boating down the "lake," going for walks and campfires with friends. Netley Creek became a gathering place and as her kids married and had children of their own, they too would join in the fun, waterskiing and tubing on the lake. Janice enjoyed having her two oldest grandchildren spend two weeks with her and Joe each summer, taking swimming lessons and being a constant source of joy. It would be many years later, that she would be blessed with two more grandchildren who would introduce her to hunting for kindness rocks, which her family will forever cherish.
Janice was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother and friend. She took each day as it came and showed great patience and kindness throughout her life.
She will be forever cherished as the loving wife of Joe; mother of Tanya (Joe) of Chatfield, Kevin (Pamela) of Moosomin SK, Christa (Scott) of Winnipeg; sister of Clive (Wendy) of Kenora and grandmother of Amanda, Chris, Alex and Andrea. She was predeceased by her parents, Stan and Bea.
A memorial service and interment will be held at Chapel Lawn on October 15, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. For those who wish to attend, please RSVP to Chapel Lawn between 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. as space is limited to those who are vaccinated.

  • We first met Janice and Joe and the kids when our Sons, Nathan & Kevin, played hockey and baseball. Janice & I became reacquainted at the Y and kept each other up to date on our families comings and goings. She was very proud of her family. She was a lovely lady and will be missed by all. We extend our deepest sympathies to all the family. ... Bonnie & Jim Carvell - Posted by: Bonnie Carvell (Friend) on: Oct 11, 2021

  • As a former hockey Mom, it was always a pretty safe bet that if the community club or team ever needed a helping hand or a volunteer position filled, Janice or Joe would always be available. It was their support that helped a lot of the programs at KW succeed. Our family sends our sincerest condolences on her passing to Joe, Tanya, Kevin and Christa ... from The Laforte family - Posted by: Joanna LaForte (acquaintance) on: Oct 10, 2021
