DOROTHY LORRAINE ZACHARIAS
January 8, 1949 – October 3, 2021

Peacefully in her sleep, Lorraine passed away after a courageous battle with cancer.
Lorraine will be greatly missed by her husband Ray; her brother David Dewar (Janis); her sisters-in-law Irene Jacobs and Melinda Harder (Cory); numerous nieces and nephews and great-nieces and nephews. Even though Lorraine and Ray had no children of their own, Lorraine loved to meet with her nieces and nephews and hear the many funny stories of them and how their lives were progressing. She cared for them dearly.
Lorraine was predeceased by her mother and father, Mary and Thomas Dewar.
Lorraine worked for United Grain Growers for over 25 years, where she was able to establish many friendships with her fellow employees. Lorraine was well liked by everyone.
Lorraine had many interests which ranged from gardening, travelling the world and going for long drives in their car or truck with her husband Ray. Every spring, Lorraine would go to the numerous gardening stores in and around Winnipeg to pick out her favourite flowers and plant them all around her house. Lorraine and Ray both loved to travel, whether it was to Hawaii, which was her favourite, going on cruises, either to the Caribbean or through the Panama Canal or as far north as Alaska. Lorraine was also a big fan of Elvis, so a trip to Graceland was also part of their travels.
Lorraine was also very fond of all animals, but especially fond of dogs. Lorraine and Ray had numerous dogs, all of which were Cocker Spaniels.
Lorraine was a long-standing member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Fort Garry Branch #90, where she held numerous volunteer positions. Lorraine was very proud of her work with the Ladies Auxiliary.
Lorraine also liked to go to the Casinos, which she missed dearly due to Covid-19 restrictions. Lorraine was often accompanied on these trips to the Casinos with her good friend Dorothy "Doe" Erb.
The family would like to extend our sincerest appreciation and love to the staff of the HSC Women's Hospital, 5th floor who treated Lorraine with the upmost respect and care in her final days. Thank-you.
The family will hold a celebration of Lorraine's life at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home, 4000 Portage Avenue at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, a donation can be made to the charity of your choice.
