CLARA BROWN
1940 – 2021

It is with heavy hearts and great sadness that the family of Clara Brown (Rowley) announce that she passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, at her residence early Wednesday, September 29, 2021. Her request was that she be at home with her family when she passed. She was blessed with good health until her last two years and failed quickly when she became ill.
She is survived by her husband Keith; son Wayne (Sherry), grandchildren, Matthew and Megan; son Andrew (Charlene); brother Howard (Sandra), sister-in-law Terry Rowley; brothers-in-law, Elwyn, Don (Carol) and Doug (Donna), sisters-in-law, Elaine Schlivinsky and Ardith (Mac) Davidson; as well as many other family members.
Clara was predeceased by her mother Lois Rowley, in-laws, Elsie and Bill Brown, brothers-in-law, Gordon (died in infancy) and Steve; sister-in-law Georgina, and Keith's aunt Lorraine Lane and Merton.
Clara grew up and attended school in Manitou, and baby sat for the Henderson family, worked in The Jolly Canuck for a time, then worked briefly at Women's Pavilion.
Clara and Keith married in 1960 and had many years together raising a family, camping and dancing with the many friends they met over the years. They spent many years at the cottage at Albert Beach where she loved to be with her flowers and especially her friends that she made. The barbecues, beach going, bonfires and coffee breaks with the Stewarts. She enjoyed dancing, starting as a teenager and finally with Tuelon Seniors Club where she had many friends. Clara made friends easily and she enjoyed their company and visiting with them. She had a special friendship for 40 years with three hockey moms, Pat, Joan and Marlene. Every Monday they would have coffee at one of their house's and later at Tims in the mall. She was also an avid Jets 1.0 fan and booster club supporter. Clara loved her flowers, planting a garden, and she loved to bake and cook for her family and others. She made jams, pies, pickles, etc. She loved to knit Afghans and do crafts.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of choice.

  • So sorry to hear of Clara's passing. We (Tom, Shirley, Brent and Cheryl) were close neighbors on Cambridge St. and my parents were friends with Clara as well as the children hanging out through the years. I know my Mom (Shirley) was especially shocked to hear of Clara's recent passing. I know they were close for many years when we were all neighbors. Tom and Shirley especially would like to send their deepest condolences to the entire family, but especially to Keith, Wayne and Andy. We are all thinking of you at this difficult time. - Posted by: Cheryl Bezte (Sanderson) (Neighbour) on: Oct 14, 2021
