MINNIE MARILYN OWENS
(nee SMITH)
September 24, 1921 - October 3, 2021
Minnie was born in Dauphin, Manitoba and was raised as an orphan by a "Grandma." Minnie lived with Grandma and her son in Winnipeg, until they passed away. Minnie was lucky to find the loves of her life, twice in her lifetime. She is predeceased by her husbands, Edgar and Bert and loving stepson Thompson Owens. She will be remembered by her stepchildren, Heather Talocka (Don), Margaret Constable (David), Mark Owens (Patricia), Brian Owens (Jutta); daughter in-law Audrey and friends near and far.
Minnie worked in the China Department of Hudson's Bay for 41 and a half years and was very proud of all she accomplished in her career. Her love of the Bay never ended; when they closed this past year in downtown, the newspaper printed a full-page photo of the building and Minnie kept it by her side a few days, stating she wanted to look at it a little longer.
In her retirement, when she wasn't entertaining company at home in Matlock, she and Bert enjoyed travelling to Europe, Asia and the Caribbean. Minnie also enjoyed watching all the sports on the television while knitting.
Many thanks to all the friends and neighbours for assistance provided in Minnie's later years. Very special thanks to Minnie's wonderful friends and supports Rick Gamble, Linda Shipman, Gwenn Adams, Dale Kwamsoos, "the girls" from the amazing Gimli Home Care team and the East Interlake Paramedic Crew.
Cremation has taken place and no service is planned at this time.
