ROLANDO E. FERNANDO
He is survived by his loving wife Demetria; his daughters, Rowena (Ben) and Rosalind (Adam); his grandchildren; and relatives in Canada and the Philippines.
Rolly worked at Varta Batteries and after the plant closed, he worked in home care at the WRHA. He remained there until his retirement in 2009.
He loved to listen to Kenny Rogers, go fishing, and play chess. He also spent many hours tending the vegetable garden, and during family gatherings, he was the cook at the barbecue grill, chatting with relatives while making sure the food was cooked perfectly.
Rolly was friendly, outgoing, and loved to share stories about daily life. He was also a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, and he will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Lamay (viewing) will take place between 6:00 p.m. and 10:00 p.m., on Friday, October 22, 2021, at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. Funeral Mass will take place at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 26, 2021, at St. Vital Catholic Church, 1629 Pembina Hwy. Interment to follow at Glen Lawn Cemetery. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, all in attendance must be fully vaccinated, only those who can show proof of vaccination and Government issued ID will be permitted to attend.
We would like to thank the WRHA home care staff and palliative care staff. We would also like to thank Dr. Bshouty and staff at Health Sciences Centre, Dr. Basta and staff, Fr. Moise, Fr. Tomy, Fr. Mark, Fr. Colin, and St. Vital Catholic Church staff.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his name to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association of Canada.
