Allan Philippe Murray passed away October 14, 2021 at Surrey Memorial Hospital at the age of 75. Born in Edinburgh, Scotland in 1946, he immigrated to Canada in 1954.
Excelling in science, he attended UBC to study Geology, and worked with the BC Geological Survey before pursuing his passion for flying. He obtained his pilot's license and began his career with TransAir in Winnipeg in 1968. After 38 years of service through the Pacific Western and Canadian Airlines eras, he ultimately retired with Air Canada in 2006 at the mandatory age of 60. His love of flying was only surpassed by that of family.
While in Winnipeg, he fell in love, marrying Wendy in 1979. After the birth of their son Iain in 1981, the family relocated to Edmonton in 1983 and then White Rock, BC in 1988, where they remained together happily through 43 years of marriage.
Al is predeceased by his parents, Alastair and Jessie; and infant brother Iain. He is survived by Wendy, son Iain, daughter-in-law Jaspreet, and grandchildren, Mira and Mason.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Terry Fox Foundation.
Service will be held at Victory Memorial Park Funeral Centre at 14831-28 Ave., Surrey, BC, on October 25, 2021 at 1:00 p.m.
