I have thought a lot about Jean these last few years. We connected for years as her dad, Col James Gemmill and her step mother, Gertie Gemmill, were my great aunt and uncle. Even after Uncle Jim passed away, Jean came to Kelowna for her annual visits. Always independent, she insisted on staying at the Prestige Inn until I convinced her that The Grand was a safer location for her to stay and a lovely area to walk around. She would come for dinner and we always had a lot of laughs. Indeed, she loved life and seemed very happy. She had me take her to the cemetery where she is to be interred with her beloved mother Isobel. She wondered who would visit her grave here in Kelowna and I told her "I would." And I will. She had a long life. Her Christmas cards stopped coming a number of years ago and her phone was disconnected so I didn't know how to reach her and wondered if she had gone into care. I hope her last years were comfortable ones Sincerely, Maureen Savage. - Posted by: Maureen Savage (friend) on: Jan 12, 2022
My dearest condolences to Jean's family and friends. Jean was a spitfire of a woman who I was so lucky to have known. I did her hair for years and always enjoyed her coming in every week and telling me stories and making me laugh! She loved life, travel and her friendships. She will always have a special place in my heart. Rest In Peace Jean - Posted by: Dawn Klassen (Hairstylist/Friend) on: Oct 25, 2021
