January 3, 1925 – October 17, 2021

Lucien (Lou) Lamy, born January 3, 1925, passed away peacefully in Calgary, Alberta on Sunday, October 17, 2021, at 96 years young.
Lou was born and raised in Ste. Rose du Lac, Manitoba. The eldest of three sons, he had fond memories of his childhood on the homestead. He loved animals, especially horses, was a hard worker and often trapped animals to sell on his way to and from school. Lou joined the Canadian Armed Forces and very quickly moved on to train as a paratrooper, eventually heading overseas to fight courageous battles in the Second World War. Upon returning home in 1945, he married the love of his life, Marion. They began their life and family together, spending time with their beloved families in Manitoba. Lou had a long career with the Federated Co-op in both Manitoba and Alberta. They relocated to Calgary in 1965 and put down roots within the Bowness community and attended Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church. He loved hunting, fishing and camping. After retirement, he and Marion continued camping and travelled afar exploring the Canadian provinces and US states.
Lou was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, Camille and Roy, and his daughter-in-law Vi (nee Volk) (Dennis). Lou is survived by his loving wife of 75 years, Marion (nee Olson), their four children, Brenda, Carol, Al and Dennis, eight grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. The world feels a little emptier without our Dad, Grandpa and Great-Grandpa in it.
Our deepest gratitude to Colonel Belcher Care Centre for caring for our beloved Lou in his final months.
Lou's Celebration of Life will be held at South Calgary Funeral Centre on Tuesday, October 26, 2021 at 2:30 p.m. (12700 Macleod Trail SW, Calgary, Alberta).
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you kindly donate to the Veteran's Association Food Bank (403-367-8387),

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • Lou, lovingly known as Dad Lamy to me, was a special part of my life as Carol and I wandered through our adventures. Lou was always so welcoming whenever I popped by for a visit, a warm hug. I know that he is looking through the holes of heaven watching over all. - Posted by: Joanne (Friend) on: Oct 23, 2021
