MARYANN KRAWCHENKO (MARY)
Date of Passing: Oct 22, 2021Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory
Mary will be deeply missed by her children: Margaret Pesclovitch, Sandi (Bob) Altner, Chris Krawchenko (Rob Shaw), Joe Krawchenko, and Kathy Krawchenko (Dave Leather); her grandchildren: Meghan Pesclovitch (Dan Gravenor), Katiana Krawchenko, Rachel Altner (Matt Graham), Nicholas LaFantaisie; great-grandchildren, Tryphon and Edwin; and her devoted brother Bill (Irene) Bachynsky. She will be mourned by a large extended family and many friends.
Mary was predeceased by her husband, Carl Krawchenko. She was also predeceased by her sister Elsie Strumbicky, son-in-law Randy Pesclovitch and grandson Matthew Pesclovitch.
Mary joined Carl in their family business, Frontier Packing Company, Ltd. Then, in 1970 Mary established her own business at a time when women-owned businesses were a rarity in Winnipeg. Mrs. K's Food Products began with pizzas and went on to become famous for perogies and other deli items that ranged from salads to cabbage rolls and Mrs. K's cheesecake. One of her greatest joys was directing the building of her manufacturing plant at Stonewall and qualifying as a federally inspected food plant. She also adored the fact she employed so many women and found joy in teaching them how to pinch perogies and clean up a kitchen properly.
Nothing was more important to Mary than her family. She was a devoted wife to her loving husband of 53 years, Carl, and a wonderful, if occasionally frazzled mother to their five children. She was very proud of her Ukrainian heritage which she shared at her kitchen table and through her many stories. Mary loved people, music, dancing and living life to the fullest every single day. For so many people the most enduring memory of Mary will be of her in the kitchen in her white apron and hair net, pulling pans of baking out of the oven and singing along to Marty Robbins.
The world seems smaller without Mary's brilliant and comforting presence. Her spirit will forever live on in all of us who were fortunate enough to have known and loved her.
The service will be live streamed at this link: https//afterword.com/stories/maryann-krawchenko.
