MORGAN: Peacefully, on September 30, 2021, Leona Joan Morgan passed away at her home in Virden. Leona was born May 20, 1933, to John and Margaret Weber at Two Creeks. She received her education at both Ross and Errol schools. Following grade eleven, Leona taught at Ross School before moving south of Melita where she taught at Peninsula. It was here that Leona met the love of her life, Harold Morgan. They were married on July 16, 1951. Mom and Dad resided in Souris and Melita before moving to Virden in 1957. They welcomed five children into their family: Donna, Doug, Gwenda, Wanda and Bev. Family was the center of Mom's universe, and she devoted many hours to following all her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren as they pursued their interest in various activities. We all have precious memories of our summers spent at Killarney and Oak Lake. A highlight for Mom was going to Cuba with her family. It was her first time in the ocean, and she loved it. When her family was grown, Mom volunteered regularly, especially at the Sherwood and the Virden Food Cupboard, where many friendships were made. Mom's home was the center of every event. It was the gathering place for holidays, birthdays, anniversaries, happy times and sad times. She supported each of us, helping in whatever manner she was able. Following her diagnosis in February, Mom fought hard to be with us. Upon learning in August that her life expectancy was one to two months, her determination to make the best of the time she had left was an inspiration. During that time, family and friends were her focus. Her time was spent connecting with those she held near and dear. Being able to give Mom the gift of staying in her home for her last days, ended up being a gift for her family as we shared so many memories. Not only was Leona a mom, grandma and great-grandma; she was the rock that held our family together through good times and bad. Left to celebrate her life are her children: Donna and Jim Torry, Doug and Barb Morgan, Gwenda and Glenn Hayward, Bev and Mark Mitchell and son-in-law Carl Coleman. 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grand-children. Her sister Dorothy (Russell) Smith, sisters-in-law Marge Weber, Ruby Weber, Sandra Wilson and Lil Powell, numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and many special friends. Leona was predeceased by her parents, her husband Harold, daughter Wanda Gardner-Coleman, son-in-law Ron Gardner, daughter-in-law Kathie Potter, granddaughter Jennifer Mitchell, great-grandchildren Callum Draper, Shea Draper and Kiah Mitchell. Siblings Karleen Chapman, John Weber, Edith Hodgins, Thelma Lelond and Chris Weber. Thank you, Mom for all the love and memories. You will be forever loved and missed.
