JANAYA ANNYSE KALYTA
HAMRLIK
Janaya will be greatly missed by her parents, Evan and Jolana; her brother Jovan, and her grandmother Anne Kalyta, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends all of whom were very special to her. She loved her dogs, Pearl and Ruby. She was predeceased by her father Ron Kalyta in 1995; grandparents, John and Denyse Obelnicki, Jack and Helen Hamrlik, and Peter Kalyta.
Janaya had many accomplishments in her short life; Ukrainian dance awards, violin playing, knitting, snowmobile drag racing trophy but her true passion was teaching. Janaya previously taught at Fisher Branch Early Years School and Fisher Branch Collegiate. Janaya's last position was at Marble Ridge Colony School and Broad Valley Colony School which she loved and treated every student like they were her own.
Janaya grew up on a farm and was proud to be a "farm girl". Janaya took a genuine interest in people she met; everyone who knew her will have a "Janaya story". Her smile, presence, kindness and humour lit up every day. Janaya was always a source of positivity. Janaya's family was very important to her and she always looked forward to family gatherings. Janaya travelled to Jasper, Minneapolis, Black Hills, fly-in fishing in north-eastern Manitoba and twice to New Zealand. Janaya enjoyed the outdoors; after one of her day fishing trips, she said "Dad, that was the best day of my life".
The loss of Janaya has left an unimaginable void in the many lives she touched.
Thank you to Dr. Neil Berrington who was always there for Janaya. There were so many people involved in her care; thank you very much to all of you. Please know that Janaya appreciated each and every one of you.
A private family gathering will be held.
It always rains the hardest on

Not only was Janaya a childhood friend but when we left our small town Janaya was the only one who came with me to the University of Winnipeg. It meant so much to me to see a familiar face during such an uncertain and scary time. Although were in slightly different programs we frequently had the chance to keep each other company in our spare time on campus and a few rare occasions of depending on each other in classes. I will always remember Janaya for the positivity she exuded every day and will emulate that as a teacher in her memory. - Posted by: Ian Lindal (Friend) on: Nov 16, 2021

So sorry to hear of Janaya’s passing. She was always a bright ray of sunshine on our unit. Whenever I needed an ear to ear smile to brighten my day, I went to visit Janaya. It was definitely an honor to know her. - Posted by: David (Nurse) on: Nov 10, 2021

Janaya was considered to be one of my best friends in high school, she made the bus ride tolerable and always made me laugh or put a smile on my face, I had so much love for that girl. My only regret is not being a better communicator and keeping in touch with her after I graduated. Jolana, Evan & Jovan, my deepest condolences to you all. - Posted by: Jasna Huta (Friend) on: Nov 03, 2021

Evan, Jolana, Jovan, Aunty Annie; my deepest sympathy goes out to all of you. Janaya was a warm ray of sunshine in a world where it seems to rain harder than ever. Janaya was such a kind person with a quick wit and an awesome sense of humor. On occasion I would text her a cartoon (usually teaching related). The last one was at the end of September. Her reply was: YOU ALWAYS MAKE ME LAUGH. ......... What a great gift to leave me. Thank you Janaya. I wish you all find the strength you need to carry you thru this difficult time. Jayna was loved so much by my daughters who will miss her. They hung around at school and once school was finished they went their separate ways. Didn't mean though that this came as a shock and losing one so close in age a life taken way to early will always be remembered by those who loved her. Rest in Paradise a beautiful Angel. To the family my sincere condolences. - Posted by: Lana Harper (Friend) on: Oct 30, 2021
