May 1, 1943 - October 22, 2021
Monica is survived by her brother Garth. She was predeceased by her mother Ethel; father Andy; brother Lyall and husband Jim.
Monica was born in Portage and soon joined her brothers, Lyall and Garth on the family farm in the Beaver district. Her education began in the one-room school at Beaver and continued at MacGregor, achieving a grade 11 standing. Education continued at MIT in Winnipeg, where she achieved a certificate and began employment with the Government of Manitoba and later with United Grain Growers.
During her brief career, she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis and soon the disease destroyed her ability to function in an office support environment. After a period at home with her husband Jim, she became a resident of Tache Center (now Action Marguerite St. Boniface Inc.); her home for over three decades.
Over the decades, Monica received excellent care from the many professional and non-professional people that supported her and enjoyed her humour and pranks. She was very thankful for all of the support provided and frequently thanked staff for their care.

I just wanted to stop by and leave a memory of Monica. She was a resident at the same place as my Dad. Every time I'd go visit, Monica would be there to greet me and give me a hard time (jokingly of course). Everytime I'd take my Dad out, Monica would always tells us to behave and I'd quip back, "You stay out of trouble too!". And she'd always answer the same..."Never!".
