STEPHEN WOLOSCHUK
1931 - 2021
Born in Ethelbert, MB, Steve's early days included time in Toronto and Dauphin, before attending the University of Manitoba's Faculty of Education. It was on a summer break spent at home in Ethelbert where Steve met Helen at a local dance. Helen was working as a nurse at the United Church Mission Hospital and what followed was a genuine and inspirational, real life love story.
Steve's interests over his lifetime ranged from playing bridge to roller skating, and years of curling, where he achieved success in the provincial Master's league. Dad taught himself carpentry, electrical, and plumbing, and applied all of those skills when building Helen's dream cottage. After retirement, Mom and Dad wintered in Arizona and spent the rest of the year dancing their way around southern Manitoba as part of the Belgitoba Dance Club. Dad taught each of his daughters how to drive a standard transmission car, divide complex fractions, and dance the box waltz. There was no better partner to lead you around the dance floor.
Steve was grateful for the many friendships built in the Fort Garry community where he lived for almost 60 years, those he met at Donnelly Church, Trinity Church, and The Parkway, and through the many groups and associations where he volunteered his time. The family is grateful for community supports, programs, and caregivers who assisted Steve to live a full life at The Parkway.
As per his wishes, a private family celebration of Steve's life will be held.
