PAUL GEORGE SCHMIDTKE

Paul George Schmidtke, 69, of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully November 2, 2021 at Riverview Health Center.
Paul will be greatly missed by his wife of 28 years, Agatha; his sons, Jonathan (Janice), Jeffery (Courtney); stepsons, Calvin (Christa) and Kevin (Karen); sister Caroline (David - deceased); and seven grandchildren, Logan, Aaron, Carly, Elise, Cora, Millie and Brady. Paul was predeceased by his parents, Karl and Martha Schmidtke.
Paul was born in Winnipeg on October 9, 1952. Paul attended Gordon Bell High School and graduated from Red River Community College with a certificate in Education. Paul loved woodworking and was fortunate to have spent most of his life doing what he loved - teaching woodshops, working as a carpenter, and later starting his own construction company PS Gen Con. In his downtime, Paul loved helping others with home reno projects and could always be counted on to solve any and all carpentry crises his children encountered. In his later years, Paul was an active member of the Manitoba Coin Club and would proudly show off his collection to those around him. Paul had a great sense of humour and enjoyed making those around him smile, especially his grandchildren whom he would spoil with sweet treats at every opportunity. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Paul's family would like to extend thanks to the doctors and nurses of CancerCare Manitoba, the Palliative Care Program, as well as the staff of Riverview Health Centre who provided compassionate care to Paul. As such, in lieu of flowers, the family encourages you to make a donation to CancerCare Manitoba in Paul's honour.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., November 12, 2021 at Friends Funeral Services, by invitation only, with interment following at Brookside Cemetery. A livestream will be available for those who wish to attend virtually; link to be provided on Friends website.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • I knew Paul in high school and we attended UofM engineering together. I moved to California in 1983 so have never kept in touch. But I was looking up someone in my high school year book and saw Paul's name and was compelled to google his name and see if I could find him, I guess a few days too late! Just wanted to say Paul was always a good friend - I have a photo of him helping me move in 1970. We were both audiophlles with killer audio systems even in University Very sorry for your loss. - Posted by: Ted Telesky (Old high school freind) on: Nov 17, 2021
