Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I was sad to read about the passing of Mr. Buchkowski he was a nice man and a good principal while I was a youth attending Kormarno Elementary School. I always remember his kindness and willingness to help out his staff and his students. He was a good example to all. He always wanted nothing more than for us to succeed in both school and life. Respect to you sir for your good influence and impact on my life and so many others. - Posted by: Malcolm Shmelinski (Former Student) on: Apr 01, 2022

  • I had the pleasure of having Mr. and Mrs. Buchkowski for my teachers for pretty much all of my school years. Mr. Buchkowski was the BEST teacher ever! 1 of the people I will never forget, As long as I live. he taught us so much about life. They were very nice to us and always respected our church standards. All the kids loved them.. they also were very devoted Christians. I offer my sincere condolences to all of his family: Karen, his children & grandchildren and his family back home. He will be truly missed, but never forgotten. May God be with his children and Family in these trying times. Thank you, and God Bless U! - Posted by: Nathanial Maendel (Student) on: Nov 26, 2021

  • I’m so sorry to hear of George’s passing. George was a colleague of mine while teaching at the colonies. His sincere kindness, love and devotion to his school, students, families and colleagues were always visible, admired, and cherished. George, being a seasoned colony principal always was there to offer guidance, praise, and positive reinforcement to new principals like me. Rest In Peace my dear friend and colleague - Posted by: Gloria Yaremkiewich (Friend ) on: Nov 26, 2021

  • I was terribly sorry to hear the news of George Buchkowski’s passing. My husband Desmond Burke (CGI pastor in Canada) and I visited George, Gail and family in Killarney, Manitoba in about the early 1980’s. Have wonderful memories of a family filled with love and gentleness. Deepest sympathies to George’s children and their families. It was a pleasure to spend time with such an outstanding christian man. Jean (Burke) Schellenberg - Posted by: Jean (Burke) Schellenberg (Friend) on: Nov 16, 2021

  • Sad to hear about Uncle George. Although I haven’t seen him in quite a long time, I have great memories of him on the farm when we were kids. He was a good and kind man. - Posted by: Joanne Butcher (Niece) on: Nov 14, 2021

  • I had the pleasure of being friends with George for over 25 years! We met at a divisional in-service where we both taught. George was a man of great integrity. Everybody who knew him, loved and respected him…. Especially the families of Sturgeon Creek Colony where he and Gail dedicated many years of their lives teaching there. I admired George for his honesty, quick wit and his subtle ways of speaking his mind. His smile was one of a kind! Both he and Gail took me in under their wings when we traveled for school conferences; our trip to Canmore, Alberta was one I will fondly remember. After George retired, we kept in touch. I would always send him our monthly school newsletter and give him updates on everything that’s happening in Manitoba. Whenever I had the opportunity to travel to Arizona, we would meet up for breakfast. It was a time to reminisce and catch up on life. Unfortunately due to travelling restrictions over these past 19 months, we had not been able to get together for our yearly visit. However, we still chatted on a regular basis. George’s pride & joy was his family; especially his children & grandchildren. I enjoyed hearing all of his wonderful stories and seeing pictures of their mini adventures; camping, hunting, fishing trips… My heart goes out to all of his family: Karen, his children & grandchildren and his family back home. He will be truly missed, but never forgotten❤️! ~Laurie Oughton, Manitoba - Posted by: Laurie Oughton (Friend/colleague) on: Nov 13, 2021
