HELEN GERTRUDE TOBER
(nee HINTZ)

It is with deep sadness that the family of Helen Tober announces her sudden but peaceful passing on Friday, November 5, 2021, at the age of 90 at the Health Sciences Centre.
Helen was born on March 9, 1931, and grew up on a small farmstead in Golden Bay, Manitoba, with her five sisters and two brothers. After moving to Winnipeg as a young woman, she worked at Swift Canadian. It was there that she met her dear husband Ben, with whom she shared 61 years before his passing on November 5, 2014. They settled on St. Vital Road, raising their three daughters - Darlene, Cindy and Janice - until they moved into Kirchhoff Gardens, where they lived for many years. Two years ago, Helen moved to Dakota House.
Helen was a kind, mild-mannered woman - someone with a shy, crooked smile who spoke softly. But underneath that meek demeanor was a determined woman who worked hard to protect and hold onto what was hers: a beloved family and the home with which she took great pride.
She loved to get together with her siblings for a good game of cards and to spend summers at Hillside Beach with them. She loved music and was always ready to hit the floor and dance to a little Abba during family occasions, which were fun-filled and plentiful.
She was predeceased by her husband Ben, parents, Julius and Helena Hintz, and three of her siblings, Olga Okerlund, Dorothy and Elmer. She will be lovingly remembered by her daughters, Darlene Auld (Greg), Cindy Blair (Perry) and Janice (Paul Jarvis), her sisters, Loreen Kenyon, Edna Otto (Roland) and Adeline Kopp (Arthur), and brother Al (Marie), and her numerous in-laws, nieces and nephews.
The memorial service took place on Friday, November 12 at Faith Lutheran Church, followed by the inurnment at Green Acres.
The family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Dakota House as well as Dr. Groenewald for her considerate care of our Mom throughout the years. A special thank you as well to the fire and ambulance personnel who attended to Mom and to the caring and compassionate doctors and staff at the Health Sciences Centre ER. Words cannot express our gratitude.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation or to Cardiac Sciences Manitoba.

Mom, you will remain in our hearts forever.
