CAPTAIN ROY FREDERICK PATCHING

Roy Patching of Winnipeg passed away
November 5, 2021, at the age of 96.
Roy leaves to mourn his wife of 68 years Dorothy, sons, Calvin (Debbie), Dean (Karen), daughters, Linda (James), Joanne (Kim), grandchildren, Nicole (Zach), Nastassia (Scott), Sascha (Dwayne) , Darren, Deanna
(Brett), Britny, Sidonie (Tyler), Lisa (Gord), great-grandchildren, Rylan, Dwanasha,
Harrison, Hunter and Parker, sister Valerie (John) in England along with many nieces and nephews and their children.
Born in Isleworth, England in 1925. Roy joined the R.A.F. in 1945 and was stationed in Full Sutton where he met the love of his life Dorothy and got married in 1953. Roy then transferred to the R.C.A.F. where he was
stationed in Gimli, Canada, Baden Baden, Germany, Metz France, and Winnipeg,
Canada. Roy decided to retire in 1970 as a Captain and returned the family to England. In 1982 after his children moved back to
Winnipeg, he and Dorothy followed where he pursued an Insurance Financial career until 2017, when he officially retired.
Roy and Dorothy loved to travel all over the world with Puerto Vallarta becoming their favourite destination for the past 30 years.
Roy was a loving and caring husband and father. He was always there for support and advise, he was a man of great strength always willing to give help where needed. He was
extremely well rounded with a great sense of humour, wonderful wit and a vocabulary that was extremely comprehensive. Throughout his military and civil career, he travelled and experienced all sorts of culture and events. This would lead to the most marvellous
stories of life experiences that will be sorely missed. As the Patriarch of the family, he loved the family gatherings and celebrations where he would share his experiences with all his children right down to his great-grandchildren.
Roy through his compassion was a
supporter of numerous charities and
organizations.
Many thanks to the staff at Brightwater
senior living for the care and compassion they showed him and the family in his time of need.
In accordance with Dad's wishes,
cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will occur on November 24, 2021 at 2:00 p.m. at Royal Canadian Legion No. 4, 1755 Portage Ave.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Siloam Mission.
