RONALD PERRY FERENS
March 29, 1957 – November 13, 2021

On a snowy morning, surrounded by his family's love, Ron passed away at the age of 64. There are few words to describe his courage and strength, and we are so grateful for the endless love he gave to us.
Ron was born on March 29, 1957, in Beausejour to Gene and Kathleen, the youngest of four children and twin to his brother Robert. He was predeceased by his mother Kathleen, in-laws, Edward and Violet, brother-in-law Jim and great-nephew Teddy.
He is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Brenda, his children, Alicia (Colbie) and Daniel (Kurtis), and granddaughter Emily; his father Gene (Elizabeth), siblings, Deborah, Donna (Garry) and Robert (Linda); brothers-in-law, Don (Joyce), Stan (Lisa), sisters-in-law, Leona (Ernie), Barb (Jim), Pat (Don), Terry (Bernie), many nephews and nieces, and their extended families.
Ron grew up in Brunkild where he was involved in several community sports which included curling, baseball, hockey, and snowmobiling. He graduated from Sanford Collegiate in 1975. Following his graduation, Ron worked at the Pool Elevator with his father. He went on to work with his cousin Rick where he learned the flooring trade, which would be his career for over 40 years. A hard worker, he trained and mentored many employees, who became lifelong friends.
On July 21, 1979, he married the love of his life, Brenda. They raised two beautiful children, Alicia and Daniel, who were his everything. His life was further blessed and fulfilled when he became Papa to his beloved granddaughter, Emily.
Ron's love of the outdoors started very young. He spent many family weekends and summers at the Big Whiteshell where his father initially taught him his love for fishing. Later in life he enjoyed heading to the Reston Ramada (or as the locals called it 'The Hunters Shack'). He spent many hunting seasons there with his brother and friends, new and old. Ron was a devoted Jets and Bombers fan and never missed a game.
Ron's labour of love was the family lake home on Lake Lac Du Bonnet. This was his place for enjoying beautiful sunsets, fishing off the end of the dock, and making countless memories with his loved ones. At the lake, he became known to his family as Captain Ronnie where he navigated and cruised the waterways in his pontoon boat.
The family would like to thank the doctors and nurses at the St. Boniface Hospital 5A West ACCU and 5A South Wards for their exceptional care and compassion, especially Krissy and Lexi.
A private celebration of Ron's life will be held on Sunday, November 21, 2021.
In lieu of flowers, a donation can be made to the St. Boniface Hospital Foundation.
