SHIRLEY ANN HILL
Shirley was born on May 23, 1952 in Gimli, Manitoba to parents Josephine "Jessie" and Walter Osowski. Her family lived in Arborg, Manitoba for her formative years and she left as a teenager to become a nurse in Winnipeg. She spent 14 years delivering patient care at the Health Sciences Centre and met her husband, Ken, during that time.
Shirley and Ken were married in 1976 in Teulon, Manitoba and had two daughters, Amanda and Amber. Shirley left nursing in 1988 when she joined Investors Group. She earned her designation as a Chartered Financial Planner, received her certification as a Certified Financial Planner (CFP) and later her Registered Retirement Consultant (RRC) designation. Shirley retired in 2019 as an Executive Financial Consultant with Investors Group Financial Services Inc. She had a passion for her field, was dedicated to her clients and considered them all friends. In both of her careers Shirley took pride in being a caregiver. As a nurse she took care of peoples' physical health and as a financial planner she took care of their financial health. Her goal was always for each person in her care to be able to live their best life.
Outside of her professional career, Shirley had a passion for travel. She loved to experience the world and was dubbed "Babarazzi" by her eldest grandchild because of her enthusiasm for taking pictures. She dedicated her time to her extensive garden and was happiest when she was surrounded by beautiful flowers and had mud under her nails.
Shirley was predeceased by her father Walter, mother Jessie and infant brother Jerry. She is survived by her husband Ken, her two daughters, Amanda "Mandy" (Steve) and Amber (Dave), and her five grandchildren, Eleanore, Abbigail, Clark, Amelia and Astrid.
We wish to extend a special thank-you to Palliative Manitoba nurses Lisa, Jade and Tamara and the Comforts of Home Care team for their exceptional care of our mother. We would also like to express our appreciation to Dr. Nguyen and nurses Meaghan and Kat of Riverview Health Centre who helped make her final hours comfortable and cared for. We are grateful to family and friends for their compassion, prayers and positive thoughts during this difficult time.
Due to the pandemic, a closed Ukrainian Catholic service and interment is being held for family at Glen Eden Funeral Home & Cemetery.
If you wish to honour Shirley's memory, please take a moment to ask your mother, father, sibling, or someone else you care for if they have had their recommended physical screenings as early detection may be successfully treated. In lieu of flowers, donations are also graciously being accepted by Manitoba Association of Women's Shelters (https://maws.mb.ca/) and Palliative Manitoba (https://palliativemanitoba.ca/).

Ken & family, I'm so sorry to hear of Shirley's early passing. No doubt Bob was delighted to show her around and they've already enjoyed a few laughs, as they were always prone to do. Shirley had a profound impact on our lives and I will always be so grateful for her wise counsel and sage advice on things financial, but especially will I miss her friendship and those wonderful hugs. I don't think I could ever forget her amazing laugh. She truly was larger than life and we always looked forward to dinners with both of you. I'm so glad to have known Shirley and she'll forever remain tucked in my heart as a dear friend. - Posted by: Margaret Sullivan (Friend) on: Nov 30, 2021
Ken, I’m so sorry to here that Shirley has passed. She was such a beautiful lady and I will truly miss her. I’m glad we had an opportunity to be together in Arizona. It is a memory I will remember always. We went to see the Christmas lights then went for something to eat at a Mexican restaurant. My thoughts are with you and your family. - Posted by: Sharon bamendine (Friend) on: Nov 25, 2021

I was very saddened to hear of Shirley’s passing. I always looked forward to our visits and the insights she gave me as we talked about our travels and the global financial insights she was able to give me. A review of my financial situation was never dull because of Shirley’s insights and caring for me and my situation. She truly thought of caring for people in a wholistic way. Thank you to the family for sharing such a caring person with the rest of us. She is missed and was one of a kind! - Posted by: Evelyn Labun (Financial consultant) on: Nov 23, 2021
It is with great sorrow that I must say “Aloha” to my long time Financial Advisor. Shirley helped all my retirement dreams to become a reality. Her integrity, diligence, expertise and caring were second to none. I respected and trusted her advice although there were a few times where she had to gently “coax“ me into believing that she was “RIGHT” in that gentle but persuasive mode that she so excelled in. Those “verbal guided tours” often resulted in some heartfelt laughter resounding from her office. The world has lost a joyous and beautiful soul and she will be truly missed by so many of us. Well Shirley, relax up there for a little while before you start looking at Angels portfolios up there on the Executives “cloud nine”. Averi sends a big hug to Abbi and I would like to extend my deepest condolences to all her family and loved ones. Liz Armitage - Posted by: Liz Armitage (IG client and friend) on: Nov 23, 2021

My experience of Shirley was of a generous sip of single malt: a delightful bit of bite followed by the sensation of a warm hug on a cold day. She is a vibrant personality who will be missed by all those she encountered. My sincere condolences to all the family and friends who are mourning her loss. - Posted by: Christine (RMT) on: Nov 20, 2021
