It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, grandpa and friend, Gary Tucker on
November 14, 2021 at the age of 72.
He is survived by his wife of 48 years,
Bobbie, son Cameron (Rebecca) and
daughter Caitlin (Chris). He is also survived by his sister Eleanor (Fred), sisters-in-law, Dianne, Donna (Chris), Lori (Phil), five grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Gary was predeceased by his parents, Margaret and Bill Tucker and brother Wayne.
Gary was born March 15, 1949 in Winnipeg, Manitoba, growing up in Weston. He attended school at Weston, Cecil Rhodes, Tec Voc and Daniel McIntyre Collegiate, going on to study Drafting & Design at Red River College. In high school Gary was an avid athlete in
numerous sports. He also enjoyed summer trips to the cottage at Minaki, LacLu and
Sandy Lake.
He worked at Westeel-Rosco as a
Mechanical Technologist and later at Buhler Industries, making numerous longtime friends.
Gary and Bobbie married in 1973 and raised their family on an acreage near Oakbank, Manitoba. Gary enjoyed spending time with his kids, and later his grand-children. He was always a warm welcoming
presence, and visiting grandpa's house was a joy for his grandchildren.
Gary's hobbies included dogsledding with his Irish Setters, fishing, guitar, photography and numerous home improvements. Bobbie and Gary spent many summers working and building their cottage on Sandy Lake. Gary loved to draw and enjoyed creating hand-drawn pet portraits for friends and family. After retirement, Gary and Bobbie enjoyed
travelling as snowbirds to Florida, Texas and Arizona.
Gary battled many health issues over the years, including a liver transplant in 2004. Thank you to Dr. Jeff Weibe, Dr. Peretz, nurse Vicki and the staff at Selkirk Regional Health Centre for Gary's care.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Transplant Manitoba - Gift of Life or a
