Gordon Hanna passed away November 16, 2021 at Victoria Hospital at the age of 88.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory, daughter Peggy Graham (Dave), grandchildren, Lindsay Martens (Kyle), Kelsi, and Sean (Janet), great-grandchildren, Finnley, Esmae, and Daphne Martens, nieces and nephews and their families.
Gordon was predeceased by Jean, his loving wife of 64 years, his parents, Anton and Rose Hanna, siblings, Josephine, Sheffield, Louise, Peter and Anna.
Gordon was born in Eriksdale, MB, the youngest of his siblings. Through the years, he has always worked hard to support and provide for his family. For over 30 years, he was a die caster and eventually foreman at Bay Bronze Industries.
He enjoyed cooking, especially Syrian-Lebanese dishes. Gordon volunteered for many years at the Lebanese pavilion, during Folklorama, preparing and serving their popular shish-kebabs. Before retiring, he purchased and ran Appolon Pizza on St. Mary's Rd.
Gordon was an avid fan of Hockey Night in Canada, the CFL, playing cards, dancing and of course kibitzing. He loved spending time with his family and never wanted to miss an event, especially the annual Hanna BBQ.
We would like to thank the staff at Donwood EPH for their care and support, as well as Dr. Cavers and his team at Victoria Hospital.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.
The service will be held at Chapel Lawn Funeral Home on Saturday, November 27 at 10:00 am. Those who wish to attend, please call Chapel Lawn Funeral Home to RSVP between 9 a.m. -5 p.m.

Condolences & Memories (2 entries)

  • As a retired support staff member at Donwood EPH, I recall with fondness the visits I had with Gordon. They bore out the fact that he loved his sports, he was a hard worker, and life was sometimes difficult. But he was blessed with a wonderful and loving wife and family, whose visits were his highlights. His electronic picture gallery was always in full view, reinforcing his ties with family. My life is richer for having known Gord and his loved ones. My condolences to you all. Wendell Penner - Posted by: Wendell Penner (Friend) on: Nov 20, 2021

  • Condolences to the Hanna family. I knew Gord from the Appolon Pizza days as an employee. Gord was a soft spoken, kind man with a great sense of humour. I remember with great fondness those days working along side with him. Great man! - Posted by: Scott Hamblin (Former employee) on: Nov 20, 2021
