PHYLLIS DALY (BRYAN)
Date of Passing: Nov 21, 2021Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory
Predeceased in 2011 by her husband, Cyril, she leaves to mourn her daughters, Donna and Tina (Jim); sons, Richard (Sheila), Michael (Shannon), and Robert; as well as her beloved grandchildren and extended family.
Mom loved a good laugh, whether bowling, with the gang at the Central Hotel, playing Canasta (Disaster), or the many games with family and friends at the kitchen table.
Her award-winning garden was the talk and envy of the block. She tackled the daily newspaper crossword religiously. Countless hours were spent working on jigsaw puzzles. Bingo nights and playing the occasional slots were welcome outings.
Summer holidays with sister Joyce and brother Gary were precious, as were memories of their childhood home in Badger. The many road trips there in her later years brightened her day. The siblings also shared an amazing artistic talent.
After raising her children, mom worked for several years at Birk's Jewelry and a craft store in Kildonan Place, providing a source of "mad money", a renewed sense of confidence, and the joy of being with people.
The Dowling farmhouse was family HQ, where Thanksgiving and Christmas meals were a staple of family gatherings.
Mom was well-known for her quiet disposition and good humor, and loved by all. Her farewell hugs for all are sorely missed.
The family extends its heartfelt thanks to the many healthcare workers who loved her humble, uncomplaining soul, and who treated her with the utmost dignity, kindness, and compassion.
At mom's request, no service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, friends may donate to the charity of their choice.
