It is with heavy hearts that we must announce the passing of Marcel Gilbert Gobeil on November 25, 2021, at the Grace Hospital in Winnipeg, Manitoba with family at his side.
Marcel was born April 19, 1939 in Saint Boniface. Pre-deceased by his parents, two sisters, one bother and two sons. Fondly remembered by his daughters, Nicole (Bill) Ernewein, Rachelle (Brent) Lamke, step-kids Scott (family) and Michelle, brothers Alfred (Lorraine), Mitch (Patty), and Rosaire and sister Aggie, grandchildren Tania (Darcy), Kailee, Steven (Mateo), Lisa (Rhiannon), Richard (Kayla), Chantel (Kennedy), and Jonathon and great-grandchildren Donni and Ryder. Numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and lifelong friend Michelle Hawryluk (Gobeil-Jackson).
His early years of work include being in the Army, working at CN Rail and as a heavy equipment mechanic. He loved fishing, hunting, and playing a great game of cards with family and friends. He took great pleasure watching and participating in sports of all kinds which included many different roles in numerous leisure activities including community and minor leagues.
Known to be a great practical joker, some or all of you may have been an unwilling participant at one point or another. He would drive through a snowstorm just to be with family and more than willing to lend a helping hand to anybody in need. We cannot forget to mention his evident love for animals.
Cremation has taken place, a Celebration of Life will follow at a later date.

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)

  • On behalf of the members of the Royal Canadian Legion, Steinbach, I extend condolences to the family of Marcel. He was a tireless volunteer of our Poppy Campaign making sure the school children, businesses and citizens of the Southeast always received poppies. I saw Marcel the day before his surgery after making his annual poppy donation returns. Always jovial, considerate and affable, a truly likeable man. He will be greatly missed.
