SHIRLEY MEADOWS (MCKINNON)
Date of Passing: Oct 20, 2021Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or Memory
Shirley was a loving Mom to Pam (Paul) and Geoff (Carolyn), loving Grandma to Anthony (Ashley), Matthew (Kerri), Emily, Abbey, Chas and Curtis, and loving Great-Grandma to Avery, Noah and Maddox.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Arthur Meadows in 1993.
Mom was a vibrant, independent woman known by many friends and relatives for her auburn hair, red lipstick and red nails! She loved her gardens, the peonies and rose bushes, and every summer filled pots and planters with her favourite pink and purple petunias. She enjoyed fresh flowers and had a new bouquet in her house every week all year long. Mom believed women should be self sufficient and have their own income. She worked from the time she graduated business college until her retirement, even after she was married and had children!
Mom's favourite holiday was Christmas! She decorated her home upstairs and down! On Christmas Eve she gathered her family at her home for presents, a meal of her special roasted ribs, and enjoyed having fun with her great-grandsons! On Christmas Day Mom loved sharing a festive dinner around a table crowded with family!
Above everything, Mom cherished her grandchildren and great-grandsons! She loved being a Grandma and GG, celebrating birthdays and holidays, graduations and marriages, attending school concerts, soccer games, taking them to movies and the zoo. She always looked forward to Friday lunches with Matthew, weekly visits with Anthony, and adored visiting with Avery, Noah and Maddox on weekends and they adored her right back.
Mom appreciated her many nieces, nephews, sisters-in-law and friends who kept in touch, especially Doreen her friend of 85 years.
We wish to thank Doctors Dawe and Bashir of CancerCare Manitoba for their caring during Mom's illness. Heartfelt thanks to the Southern Health Palliative Care nurses and team! With their genuine TLC and support Mom was able to have her wish to die with dignity at home with family.
Mom was a great supporter of many charities! If you wish you can make a donation to your favourite charity in Mom's memory!
Good Bye Dear Mom and Grandma!
Night Night GG! We promise to love you forever! When you think you've hugged
them enough, hug them some more!

Condolences & Memories (1 entries)
My condolences to the family. Shirley was a first cousin of my Dad's, and I remember meeting her, Art, Pam and Geoff, when they would visit Minto, Manitoba in the summer, and visit with my Great Aunt Florence McKinnon. I remember Shirley as a very vibrant, lovely person. Kind regards to all. Allison McKinnon. - Posted by: Allison McKinnon (Cousin) on: Dec 04, 2021
