Joe worked at Canada Safeway as a bakery merchandiser and enjoyed his career until retirement. His second passion was coaching the White Eagles soccer club and his famous line was "no pressure boys, just win!" where he then became the president of the Holy Ghost Fraternal Aid Society.
Joe loved socializing and enjoyed family gatherings, he was the life of every party and most importantly he cherished every moment he spent with his grandchildren. He will be forever missed for his vibrant personality and carefree spirit.
The family would like to thank the staff at Holy Family Nursing Home for their compassionate care.
Rest in peace our "nice guy Joe".

Reading these entries has made me appreciate my father even more than I already do. He was one of the hardest working people you could meet and had fun while doing it. So proud to be his daughter, memories of him were not good, they were ‘great’. He was truly one of the friendliest people you could meet and his heart was too big. I hope he’s resting easy now. Miss him so much, wish he was here to enjoy all of us. - Posted by: Kim (Daughter) on: Apr 16, 2022

Mary, I am sorry of the loss of your beloved Joe. I got to know Joe just after Harold Thompson moved from Empress to become In-Store Bakery Merchandiser. I knew Harold from Empress and he asked me to handle the bakery production staff (interviewing, hiring, sickness & holiday replacements and advancements. Harold took me around the bakeries to introduce the staff to me. I was very impressed the first time I met Joe. He was very extroverted, smiling and seemed to have endless energy. Joe was a bakery manger and Harold although he had one person who handled his relief and looking for another person and he thought at that time that Joe had the qualifications. This later proved right. As Safeway was building stores with in-store bakeries, there would be a demand for future bakers and Red River Community Commercial Baking program would be a major sources of bakers. I used Jos's store for these trainee bakers to do their two week retail in-store training program. If the baker showed promise, we would hire them to guarantee that we had them under contract when they graduated. These trainees bakers would work Saturdays with Joe until they graduated from the program. As Safeway provided a financial bursary to the best all around baker in the Red River Bakery Program, our students won this award every year. Joe was the perfect trainer for these rookie bakers. Joe could laugh with them if they made mistakes. He instilled a work ethic that many later became bakery managers themselves. Joe had quite an attention to detail and was very organized person He acted as general contractor to build his brother's and his own houses. I last met Joe at fellow bakery manager's funeral for Julius Kramer in 2011. I fell sorry that I did not keep up with Joe. Thank you for the memories. God Bless, Rest In Peace. - Posted by: Colin Dederick (co-worker) on: Dec 07, 2021

My condolences to the Baranowski family. I worked with Joe back in Winnipeg many years ago, he was indeed a character, he always had a million dollar smile. Joe did construction on the side as his second job, (he built our dream home in West St. Paul) It’s sad he left us too soon. May he rest in peace. - Posted by: Joseph Hector Paquin (Friend ) on: Dec 07, 2021
