It is with great sadness and heavy hearts that we, RRC Nursing Faculty learned of Monica's passing. Although we each carry a different memory of Monica, her hard work and dedication throughout her studies in the program will always be remembered. She had this fantastic energy, beautiful smile and calming presence about her, which allowed her to establish special connections so naturally with with clients and peers. It was truly a pleasure to get to know you Monica and to be a part of your nursing education journey. Our sincere condolences to Monica's family and loved ones. - Posted by: Krystal Boyce-Gaudreau (RRC Nursing Instructor) on: Dec 13, 2021

Dear Michelle, I was saddened to read of your daughters untimely passing. While it has been many years since we’ve been in touch I recall our times together with Roxane full of laughs and joyful times and sharing stories of our families filled with love. My heart breaks for your loss and I hope you’ll find some comfort in knowing that Monika is at peace and leaves behind an extraordinary presence in her all too short time on earth. My heartfelt sympathies go out to the friends and family of such a special person. I can't always remember all the names of the nursing students but I will always remember Monika. Her gentle way with her patients and her connection with her fellow students will always be remembered. Her smile that came so easily at the beginning of the day right until the shift ended. Her enthusiasm for a shift well done!! I am so grateful that I had the opportunity to work beside such a wonderful nursing student. - Posted by: Paula Bowkett (RRC Nursing Instructor ) on: Dec 08, 2021

Michelle, Bob, Trevor, Mark and families, we are at a loss of words. Nothing can be said to convey how sad we are to hear about your precious Monika. My nursing school experience will never be the same without Monika. Monika was the most hilarious, sarcastic, and beautiful person! She always made me feel better during the worst of clinical days. She was always there, cracking jokes to make me feel better and give me a hug, even when she wasn't a hugger. Thanks for being a project partner, paper editor, and friend. My heart aches to know she is gone. A memory I hold dear is sharing our reasons why we went into nursing together through editing each others papers. In one part of it we were to write about why we chose the topic to write on. I was inspired by her and the way she wrote about it brought me to tears. She had such a beautiful heart and passion for helping others and she found her role model through her mom. It was such a privilege to get to know that part of her! The world of nursing missed out on having one of the GREATEST nurses. Prayers and thoughts to the family as you take time to grieve and remember Monika for all the beautiful ways she will be remembered for. My sincere condolences to Monika's family. I pray the days ahead, turn from sadness to happy memories of your Monika. It's a painful journey that I have taken, with the loss of an adult child. Something most can't comprehend. Please know you're in my thoughts and prayers. - Posted by: Bev Robertson (Friend/Co-worker) on: Dec 08, 2021

Monika was known for her positivity, goofiness and beautiful heart. She touched the lives of many, even it it was just one quick encounter, her warmth and kindness rubbed off to everyone. Before you knew it, you became instantly as goofy and giggly as her. I remember being at clinical with Monika, just dreading the day but as soon as we got together to carpool every morning to the hospital, I instantly felt my mood shift, my day was suddenly better simply with her presence. We’d talk about nonsense that would usually turn into laugh attacks or weird accents. Monika will always be a beautiful soul. Though it was short, I feel so blessed to have been a part of her life. The world won’t be the same without you girl, you’ll never be forgotten, we love you Monika. - Posted by: Anika Alexander (Friend/Nursing Student Peer) on: Dec 08, 2021

Monika was truly one of a kind. She was beautiful, smart and had the best sense of humour. She was an amazing friend and was one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. I will forever miss watching Netflix shows together, doing charcuterie board and wine nights, and doing endless Home sense shopping runs. I will never forget you. Rest In Peace Mon. - Posted by: Marissa Nazeravich (Friend/RRC peer) on: Dec 07, 2021

From the moment I met Monika early on in our nursing program, her bright presence and sense of humour could put a smile on anyone's face. She was always making us laugh, it was impossible to be in a bad mood around Monika. She would have made an amazing nurse with her caring heart and charisma. It was a blessing to get the chance to know Monika and her goofy, compassionate self will be dearly missed. - Posted by: Justine Sesiuk (Friend/RRC nursing peer ) on: Dec 07, 2021
