ALLAN A. J. SCAIFE
He leaves behind to cherish his memory his loving wife Jean of 69 years; daughters, Lori-Anne Irwin (Ken) and Nadine Pellettieri (Mario); sister Verna Simovitch; grandchildren, Shanna Lawrence (Aaron), Allan Baker (Shyanna), Matthew Irwin (Madison), Kimberley Irwin (Rodney) and Jeanine Pellettieri; great-grandchildren, Allah-Denai, Marlise, Tristin, Kassen, and Gauge; nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Al was predeceased by his parents, John and Dorothy, and eldest daughter Charlene Baker.
Al was born January 15, 1929 in Stonewall, Manitoba, moved to Winnipeg at a young age but still enjoyed the rural way of life by spending the majority of weekend and school holidays with relatives on the farm. In later years he enjoyed helping family out with the harvest of the fields.
He was employed by Manitoba Telephone System for over 35 years working his way up through various managerial positions. He was admired and respected for his honesty, integrity and work ethic throughout his career.
Al married the love of his life, Jean on June 14, 1952. Together they raised a family of three girls and various cats and dogs. They enjoyed dancing together whether out on the town or in their own living room. They were a couple that always held hands and supported and cared for each other without hesitation or question. His first and foremost priority was the care, comfort and protection of his family and all those he took under his wing. He was a devoted husband and father and loved nothing better than spending time with his family.
When the grandchildren arrived, Allan and Jean were over the moon with excitement. They were always eager to help, support, encourage and spend time with their daughters' families.
In his younger years, Al enjoyed bird hunting with his English springer spaniel Mickey; who not only retrieved his birds - but on occasion the birds of any other hunters in the nearby vicinity. As well, fishing and boating at his in-laws' cottage with his family was a favourite weekend activity.
As a young man, Al enjoyed his time with the horses and rekindled that joy when all three of his daughters caught the equestrian bug.
Al will be remembered as a kind and loving man who would lend a hand to anyone in need.
We will miss you terribly
and love you always.
Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
