BARRY JAMES ROSS
August 11, 1939 - November 3, 2021

With great sadness, the family of Barry Ross announce his passing on November 3, 2021 at his residence in Vancouver, BC.
To cherish his memory, he leaves his long time partner Dana; and his only brother Neil and wife Sandra; their children, Lucia and Jaret, Sue and Brian, and Jason; along with great-nieces and nephews, Chelsea and Avery, Jayde, Sienna, Brayden, Lexie, Zach and Kayleigh.
Barry was born in Cloverleaf, MB to Russell and Clio (Holmes) Ross on August 11, 1939.
In 1945, the family moved to Beausejour, MB where he graduated from the Beausejour Collegiate.
Barry played Junior hockey with the Winnipeg Monarchs until returning to Beausejour to help start the Beausejour Beaver Hockey Team.
During his school years, Barry worked at Larry's Chip Stand and Eastern Sales Beausejour. After graduation he worked full time at Elmer Holmes Auto in Lockport.
Barry joined the RCMP Academy in Regina, Saskatchewan in 1964. He was posted in Prince George, BC, Hudsen, Hope, BC, Cassiar, BC and the finally Vancouver, BC where he retired holding the rank of Staff Sargeant.
In his retirement years, he enjoyed skiing in Whistler and playing hockey with the Schooners and Ol'Blues as well as devoting many hours in restoring his 1963 Plymouth Fury Convertible.
Barry will be laid to rest in the family plot in Beausejour, MB in a private family ceremony.
A celebration of Barry's life will be held in summer 2022. Announcement will be forth coming.

  • Barry was more than our cousin. He was Joan and I’s brother with memories that I will never forget. I can hear his laugh at this moment. He was a teaser, called me “Tiger” because I used to scratch him when he teased me. Lol. Many good memories with him and Pinkie.
