IAN GRAHAM
Ian will be missed by his loving wife Elfrieda (Finlayson), son Billie (Laura); daughters, Brenda (David), Agnes (Edwin); three step-children; four step-grandchildren and two step-great-grandchildren. Ian leaves behind two younger sisters, Christena Friesen and Lorrayne Graham. Ian was predeceased by his elder siblings, sister Anne Anderson and brother Daniel Graham. Ian also leaves behind three grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews.
Ian lived a colourful life filled with wanderlust, ingenuity, and steadfast independence. Growing up on the farm near Holmfield, Manitoba he was a trapper and hunter who supplemented the family income at an early age. As a young man Ian spent time serving in the Canadian military by driving transportation vehicles when he was too young to serve overseas. He was a plumber by trade providing waterworks to numerous homes in communities without running water. Ian was an innovator and pioneered several new products to aid in the management of large mechanical heating systems. He enjoyed gardening, spending time with his immediate and extended family, and taking road trips. In his later years he invested much time and effort to revive the little hamlet of Holmfield near Killarney Manitoba opening a restaurant and hosting Sunday fish fries for the community.
Ian possessed remarkable resilience, always determined to rise again, and overcome obstacles professionally and personally. Ian joined AA in 1992, enjoyed 29 years of sobriety and thanked the Lord daily that he was able to find a spiritual way of life. Meeting his wife Elfrieda and sharing his life with her for 14 plus years brought great joy and was Ian's crowning achievement. They travelled to Scotland and met long lost relatives on the isle of Lewis. Later they also enjoyed several trips to Cancun in Mexico.
A celebration of Ian's life will be held in Killarney in the late Spring of 2022.
