GITA GLASS
October 7, 1936 - November 17, 2021
She leaves behind her daughter Marlene, son-in-law Randy, granddaughters, Leah and Jessica (Robert), grandson Josh (Meredith), stepson Howard, as well as many close friends.
She was predeceased by her mother Leah, her daughter Rhonda and her husband Ralph Sotolov.
She grew up in a personal care home in Montreal where her mother was head nurse. She always said she had 100s of Babas and Zaidas who spoiled her. She mostly wore hand-me-downs except for the clothes her Baba bought for her. She cherished her Baba. They had a special relationship. Being an only child meant that she was always center of attention.
Mum was a special breed of woman. She was unique, one of a kind. She was always keeping busy playing mahjong, delivering Meals on Wheels, belonged to book clubs and going to the gym. She volunteered with the school divisions testing the hearing of young students. She taught grade 4 for many years as she claimed she couldn't do any Math higher than grade 4.
When my mum walked in to a room she was always wearing red lipstick. She always said when you wear lipstick it always brightens your face. My mum loved to dance. Any opportunity to dance she was on the dance floor shaking her booty.
She loved to travel and spent many years as a snowbird in Palm Springs. She travelled to Israel twice, skied the slopes of Switzerland, vacationed in Florida, Mexico, Hawaii, cruised in Alaska and most recently to Colombia with her late husband Ralph and his son Howard.
She also faced difficult times. She was diagnosed with cancer twice and beat it twice!
Mum always said I love you with a passion and to the moon and back. Now it's our time to say we love you to the moon and back and with a passion.
She lives on inside our hearts forever.

Marlene and her family lost their mum, baba, but mostly their friend. Gita was a friend to them all. They could share their secrets, their joys, their heartaches, their love. She was everything to them. They now celebrate the light that burned so brightly in their hearts, and not the absence of the flame. She will never be forgotten as a piece of her lives in the souls of each of them. May her journey be peaceful and may her memory be a blessing. - Posted by: Lisa Rae Minuk (Friend) on: Dec 18, 2021
