ALEXANDER LESLIE IVANISKI
June 4, 1931- December 11, 2021
Les was born in Gypsumville, MB, where he was raised on a farm, turning him into the hardworking man we all knew and loved today.
He began working on the farm at a very young age. Les moved on to commercial fishing, driving graders for the highway department, operating heavy equipment at the hydro dams in northern Manitoba, building airstrips in remote areas, mining in Ontario, to driving his 18-wheeler, which would take him on long haul deliveries all over Canada. At 58 years of age, Les went back to his farm roots in Gypsumville, once again. He was not a man who was afraid of hard work, and would lend a hand to anyone that needed it.
Les leaves to mourn his children, Leslie-Anne Ivaniski (Marshall, SK), Donna Wilson (Roblin, MB), Kathy Short (Tim) (Landmark, MB), Bill Ivaniski (Joanne) (Red Lake, ON), Barb Maines (Ross) (Calgary, AB), Terry-Lynn Ivaniski (Owen) (Lloydminster, AB); sisters, Marvel, Dorothy, Violet, Olga, Janet and brother Walter, as well as numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his parents, John and Mary Ivaniski, wife Loretta, brothers, Steve and Nick, grandson Kaleb, as well as many friends he met along his journeys.
You never left with an empty belly after visiting Les, and the stories and photo albums he shared when you visited him, was enough to occupy your time for hours on end.
The family would like to thank Lakeshore General Hospital in Ashern, MB, and the staff at Pioneer Manor as well as his home care worker Helen, for all they did for him while he was in their care.
Cremation has taken place, and a Celebration of Life will take place at a later date in 2022, to be announced, where Les and Loretta will be placed in their final resting place, together.
Thank you Dad, for helping to make us who we are today, your family values, and life lessons, will never be forgotten.

Our sincere condolences to all of Les's family. Some of my earliest and long lasting memories of Les go back to when I was in grade school in Homebrook: (a story I've told many times). It was a year of exceptional snow and looking out the school window I could only see the top of the snowplow cab and exhaust stack with black smoke pouring out as he would have to back up and ram the packed snow again and again to gain only a few feet each time. At the wheel we knew it would be Les Ivaniski coming to our rescue. I too, respected and remember his strong work ethic and kindness to others. Even though I was a generation his junior, and we didn't see each other that often in later years, I was always awed that he would remember my name when we met. Rest easy Les, you've earned it. - Posted by: Howard McDonnell (Family Friend) on: Dec 19, 2021
