THOMASINA (SEENA) SEVER
(nee URSO)
Born: August 24, 1926
Day of passing: December 10, 2021

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our beloved Mom, Seena. With family by her side, at age 95, she was called to her final resting place. Seena is predeceased by her mother Ninfa; father Vincenzo; husband Mario; sisters, Mary, Angie, Josie, Agnes (Dec. 11, 2021); and brother Sam. Remaining to cherish her memory are her brother Frank (Marge); children, Dean (Natalie), Larry (Helen), Lisa (Dennis), Darryl (Barb), Dale, Darlene (Bob), Derek (Anna); as well as 13 grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; numerous family and friends.
Seena's greatest joy was her family. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt, sister, friend, and neighbour who welcomed everyone and always made them feel special. She spent endless hours in the kitchen baking and cooking. No matter what time of day Mom had company, there was always a plate of sandwiches or dainties on the table to ensure no one left her house hungry! She spent many happy summers with her kids at the family cottage in Lester Beach. Mom enjoyed sitting on the deck, reading the newspaper, watching neighbours walk by, and visiting with her large extended family, including many of her siblings, nieces, nephews and friends.
After Dad's passing in 1974, Mom joined the workforce to support her family. Seena started working at Merchants Consolidated and retired from her career as a cook at the Grain Exchange Curling Club many years later.
Seena was a very active person and an avid sports fan. She was a 5-pin and 10-pin bowler, played baseball, loved skating, bike riding, gardening, and spending as much time outdoors as she could. She also loved watching tennis, the Toronto Blue Jays, and the Winnipeg Jets! There was nothing Seena enjoyed more than a good party where she could dance the night away!
Seena was a warrior Mom; her strength could be seen through her tireless efforts to raise seven children. This strength was evident throughout her life and most recently in her four year battle with dementia.
Special thanks and acknowledgement to the nurses and health care aides at Bethania Personal Care Home for their care and compassion during her stay, but especially in her final days.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer Society of Manitoba.
A celebration of Seena's life will be held at 2:00 p.m. on December 20, 2021, at Green Acres Funeral Home and Cemetery Hwy. 1 East at Navin Road. Proof of vaccination will be required at the door to Green Acres Funeral Home.

  • To the Sever family, So sorry to hear about your mom’s passing. She was such a strong and caring person. When you say it takes a village to raise a child she was an important part of mine. Your house always smelled wonderful! She fed anyone who entered her door. Tons of love and laugher in that kitchen. What a dynamic women! Short in stature but oh! So mighty. So many funny memories with Dude. Please know how important your family is to me. I haven’t seen you in a long while but I think of you often. Kim and I have had some great laughs through the years when I reminisce about some of the great times dude and I had. Nothing better than a childhood friend.
