LOUIS FUNG-TIN LEE, CPA, CMA
Louis was predeceased by Helen, his loving wife of 58 years, his father Do Soon Lee, mother Ying Lam Lee, sister Mary Chan and brother Man Sion Lee.
Louis was born in Canton, China. He grew up in Hong Kong and graduated from La Salle College where he was the captain of the basketball team. Louis went on to obtain a B.A. (Hons.) degree in Modern Chinese from the University of London as an external student. He worked as an inspector with the Hong Kong Customs and Excise Dept.
He married the love of his life, Helen and started a family. They left a very comfortable life in Hong Kong to immigrate to Canada so their four children could have a better future and opportunities. His first job in Canada was an accountant at Rice Sportswear. Education was always important to Louis and he obtained his CPA, CMA accounting designation. He instilled the value of education to all his children. Louis was an accountant at the University of Manitoba for the majority of his career until his retirement. During their retirement they spent the winters in Arizona and made many friends there.
Helen and Louis were active in the Chinese Community in Winnipeg for many years, volunteering at the Chinese Cultural Centre and Folklorama. Louis was one of the founders of the Chinese Cultural Centre, but he worked tirelessly and quietly in the background, preferring not to bask in the limelight.
As everyone knows, Louis' true passion was photography. He had an expert eye for composing and taking perfect pictures. He had a darkroom in the basement in the early days, owned all the newest cameras and mastered digital photography.
A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 30, 2021 with a viewing half hour prior to the service at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. with interment and reception to follow.
