WLLIAM JOHN CHESTER (BILL)

Send Flowers to the Family Offer Condolences or MemoryCHESTER, William (Bill) John of Crapaud, PEI passed away peacefully at PEI Palliative Care Centre in Charlottetown on November 28, 2021. Bill was born in Reston, MB on December 13, 1955, to Oliver and Velma (nee Addison) Chester. He graduated from Reston Collegiate and then attended Brandon University for one year. He went into the workforce for a few years then enrolled in Red River College in Winnipeg, MB taking Business Administration. On graduation he was employed by Imperial Oil. His career with Imperial spanned 30 years, first in Edmonton, then in Calgary until he retired in 2012. In his last years at Imperial Oil, his job was to control the flow of crude oil in the pipelines for refining. While working in Calgary he was actively organizing and playing slow pitch and curling on fun company teams. Bill married Debbie Cairns in Calgary on July 2, 2011. They moved to PEI on retiring (Bill had always said he wanted to retire near water). He had a small market garden out in his backyard for a few years. He also took on the role of Treasurer and fund raiser for the Crapaud Curling Club, where he really enjoyed lots of curling with friends. He was also a Councillor for the village. Bill was predeceased by his parents. He is survived by his wife Deborah Cairns, her children Michael Lord (Alexis) and their children Gavin and Danica, Adam Lord (Kerry) of Alberta, and Kayla Cotton of Nova Scotia. Also survived by sister Gail Sawchuk (Boniface) of Mountain Road MB, her children Richard Maddess, his children Haley, Sarah, Riane, RJ, Hannah, Erica (Sean) Martin their children, Rylee and Connor, and Amber (Dion) Marcoux and their children Arianna and Brandon Loogman and Maddison and Macklin Marcoux. Also survived by sister Beryl Chester of Calgary, AB, and cousins Gavin Chester and Heidi (Rob) Williams. A celebration of Bill's life will be held in Reston, MB on a date to be determined in the summer.
