Condolences & Memories (11 entries)
I just learned today of sudden death of Shawn - we had not been in touch for about a year. Such a loss to his beloved family, to CIBC and clients/friends such as us - we used to have an annual lunch and share updates on our talented children. He spoke with enormous pride of his children and of his wife and his Dad, a fervent Coop Member. A highlight was Shawn's visit to Churchill and photo taken with Alexander who lives/works there. I came to know him first at Grant Park Branch and then at Lombard Branch - he was always a source of sound advice putting client interests first. In deep sadness this evening. - Posted by: AnnaMaria Magnifico and Alexander deVries (cibc clients) on: Feb 17, 2022
My heartfelt thoughts and prayers to Melissa and family as you manage through this difficult time. Hugs - Posted by: Glenda (Friend of Melissa) on: Jan 10, 2022
We are truly shocked and saddened by Shawn’s sudden passing. I remember the great times we had starting our careers out at TransCanada Credit in Calgary. Shawn was truly loved by everybody he came in contact with. I can honestly say he was one of the nicest people I ever had the pleasure to know. Although we lost touch over the years I still have great memories and fondness of our times together. Our deepest condolences to you and your family . Melissa, I'm so very sorry to learn of the passing of Shawn. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family at this very difficult time. - Posted by: Joelle Nicholson (former co-worker) on: Dec 29, 2021
I first met Shawn when I taught him flag football at a coaches clinic. Mel told me he would be there, but I wasn’t sure what to expect. Melly May I’ve known since university, but I hadn’t met Shawn yet. He was an absolute delight. As always, focused but funny and worked hard but with humour. They are a perfect match. My heart breaks for all of you. I think of you everyday. The world lost a really good one. - Posted by: Tannis Wilson (Family friend) on: Dec 28, 2021
My deepest condolences to Melissa, Risa and Shane. I worked with Shawn for many years both in Calgary at Wells Fargo and then here in Winnipeg at CIBC. He always spoke so proudly of his family, was always the life of the party and his outgoing personality will be missed by all. Thoughts are with you during this difficult time. - Posted by: Leah Hawryluk (Coworker) on: Dec 23, 2021
So saddened to hear about the passing of Shawn. He was such a great colleague to me when I was working in Manitoba. One of the most helpful and sincere individuals I have ever met. He truly made my stay in Winnipeg a much more pleasanter one. It was such a pleasure having him on my team and calling him my friend. I’m privileged to have met him and he will always be a very special friend to me. Reg - Posted by: Reg Ratnanandan (Co worker) on: Dec 22, 2021
“I had the pleasure of working closely with Shawn during our stints in Northern/Southern Manitoba districts. He was a great companion on the road, with never ending stories to tell and an unique perspective on how he thought we should manage our responsibities. Shawn was always joking and coming up with ways to keep life away from home interesting. He often shared how proud he was of his family and his love of the lake they all enjoyed. He was truly one in a million. My condolences to his family.” - Posted by: Doug Fluker (Work) on: Dec 22, 2021
