LENORE HEATHERINGTON
(nee FOLEY)
January 24, 1942 - December 19, 2021

It is with great sadness that we announce Lenore's passing.
Lenore will be lovingly remembered by her children, Cathy and Dean, and her beloved grandchildren, Ryan and Alanna; her sisters, Pat Glover (Al), Rita Foley (Garrie), and brother Doug Foley (Janice), and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Helen and George Foley; brother John Foley; sister and brother-in-law Gerri and Ted Oakley.
Lenore was raised in a large, close-knit Irish family where she graduated from Holy Cross School. She had a keen mind and was a hard worker, advancing to senior management at Service Canada, where she oversaw old age pension services. Her work took her to Ottawa where she was able to explore family roots in Pointe Gatineau, QC. She also explored the other side of her family tree on a trip to Ireland with her sisters.
Family was everything to Lenore. She was a very dedicated mother who went to any lengths for her children. She routinely set her needs aside for others. She really excelled in the role of grandmother. She loved indulging her grandchildren with gifts, treats, and shopping trips. She cherished her summers at Victoria Beach where she regaled them with funny stories and was happiest when she filled the cottage with laughter.
Lenore taught us to live a life of humility, compassion, generosity, courage, determination and forgiveness. She was an incredible role model of balancing the responsibilities of raising kids, managing the demands of work, and helping with her own mother's care, with a cheerful nature, a good sense of humour and hard work. Our lives will never be the same without her. We will be consoled by our memories until we meet again, as promised by our faith.
The family is especially grateful to her CancerCare doctors and her nurse Nick and the numerous friends and caregivers who assisted her: Margaret, Tamara, Agnes, Lynn, Tiffany, Rupinder, Carmen, Callie, Dawn, Lynne, Dana and Sonny.
Cremation has taken place. Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, December 29 at 11:00 a.m., respecting public health restrictions in place at that time. Those who are double vaccinated and wish to attend in person or virtually, please reply via email ringlets@telus.net. Private family interment to follow.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to CancerCare Foundation of Manitoba.
Arrangements through E.J. Coutu and Company.

  • My Dear Aunty Lenore how I will miss your easy laugh and kindness. So many great memories growing up spending time with you at Grandma’s, the late nights with family. For a good many years it was mostly annual phone calls from afar and easy conversation as we reminisced. Always your laugh and smile that I could hear on the end of the line. You were always so kind to me. I’ll miss you and hold you in my memory. xoxo - Posted by: Sean Dillon (Nephew ) on: Jan 07, 2022

  • Its with great sadness to hear of my sister-in-law Lenore's passing. My sincerest condolences to Cathy, Dean, and family. Lenore was a good friend and like a sister to me through our many years spent together. She and my mom always enjoyed evenings of shared visits. Family dinners with a few spirits, were always fun. There was no shortage of stories and laughter, with so many good times. Her generosity and kindness was her gift to others. Sadly missed and honored to have had Lenore in my life. See you in time Lenore, till we meet again. With love, Pat - Posted by: Pat Heatherington (Family) on: Dec 28, 2021
