Gary was my cousin through marriage. He had just found happiness with Ruth and because of her, had the family he always wanted. He was a father and grandfather! Gary, I will miss your laughter and your smile. You found happiness in your marriage to Ruth. I’m glad that you got the courage to go and have coffee with her. Love bloomed and you had a family, a wife, children and grandchildren, how lucky can a man get. You deserved all of this! You left this world too soon as you still had a million things to do and share. I will miss you my cousin. Love You! Lorrie and Norm - Posted by: Noreen (Lorrie) Wiebe ( Cousin) on: Jan 01, 2022

I first met Gary during our time at the U of M while we studied to receive our Degree in Agriculture. Gary graduated the year before me in 1974. After graduation we crossed paths as we both joined the Ag-Chem industry. In the late 1990's our paths would cross again at Richardson International, we both worked in the Crop Input department until we both retired. I felt we made a good team primarily because Gary was so thorough and diligent in his job. A few quotes from some of our suppliers who called on us over the years sum up the way Gary performed his job. Ralph Tessman of Bayer Crop Science "When I took over the Richardson account from my predecessor he told me that if Gary Friesen calls and says you made a mistake.... you probably did" Bill Sherk of Corteva "Gary was always a pleasure to deal with, he always knew the numbers and often pointed out politely some opportunities for improvement, we lost a 1st class guy" Gary was respected by everyone in Richardson and always did his best to assist who ever called him, whether it was a supplier, retailer of other employees at Richardson. I first met Gary many years ago while working for separate companies in the ag industry. After being out of the industry for awhile I was very fortunate to end up working in the same company as Gary. We spent time in Chipman, ICI Chipman and then Zeneca Agro, as the same company went through name changes. Gary was always upbeat and always performed his tasks with diligence. Not only was his work done, it was always done correctly and on time. That was Gary. He was admired throughout the industry. It was a pleasure to work along side Gary. And it was indeed a shock to hear of his sudden passing. RIP Gary. Larry Gompf - Posted by: Larry Gompf (Friend and former co- worker) on: Dec 27, 2021

I got to know Gary as a summer student with Chipman Chemicals and later got to know him better when we worked together at Richardson. Gary was an extremely conscientious employee, had a wonder attitude towards life and was a joy to work with. Gary was a gentle soul and someone you could count on.
