ETHEL MAY LAMONICA
(nee CODNER)
May 5, 1922 - December 25, 2021
She is survived by her son Patrick (Elaine); grandchildren, Monica Lynch (Christian), Kevin Lynch (Emilie), Ashley Buechler (Chris), Andrew LaMonica (Bella), and Nicole LaMonica; as well as nine great-grandchildren. Mom was predeceased by her son Kenneth; husband Anthony; daughter Heather and son-in-law Greig Lynch; as well as her siblings.
Mom was born in Torbay, Newfoundland, the youngest of 11 children, and stayed true to her heritage throughout her life. She met Dad in Newfoundland while he was posted in the Navy and she returned to Winnipeg with him after the war. She was deeply devoted to her faith and was a long-standing parishioner of St. Ignatius Church. Mom worked hard all of her life to provide her children with a Catholic education.
The last years of Mom's life were lived with dementia and she received nothing but the finest care from the capable and caring staff at Riverview Health Centre.
There will be no funeral service and a private family interment will happen at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Kenneth LaMonica Memorial Bursary Fund at St. Paul's High School, 2200 Grant Avenue, Winnipeg, MB R3P 0P8, or to a charity of your choice.

Very sorry to hear of Aunt Ethel's passing. The last member of the Codner family. She was a great friend and brother to our father Robert. Have thought of her many times over the years, however never did get to Manitoba. Spending time together and sharing our Newfoundland heritage would have been so much love and fun. God blessed her with a long life, may she rest in peace, and God be with her as she reunites with loved ones and continues to dance in heaven. We lost our dad on Christmas Eve, we feel your pain. Hold your many precious memories in your heart and celebrate a life well lived. Love, Hugs and Prayers to all from Newfoundland. - Posted by: Patrick (Mary), Mona, Willie (Nephews and Niece) on: Jan 20, 2022

Patrick so sorry to hear about Ethel's passing. I know that the last years have been challenging but she had a 100 years well lived, including the sharing of a number of Newfoundland sea shanty songs when I was young. She was part of the Mulvey and St. Ignatius connection for our family, and my mom had always enjoyed her company. Thoughts are with you all. - Posted by: John Kiernan (Family friend) on: Jan 03, 2022
