Condolences & Memories (7 entries)

  • I will never forget the day of my interview for a Steno position at what was then the National Parole Service. A sudden downpour of rain and no umbrella left me soaking wet. Both Ed and Margaret Scott were very understanding of my dilemma, and in spite of my soggy first impression, I was taken on strength. Working with Ed wasn't only a privilege, it was an honour. He was an ethical, patient and kind supervisor who would often teach with a good sense of humour mixed into the lesson. I have memories of those moments that still make me smile with appreciation after all these years. My sincerest condolences to Willy and Geoffrey. Rest in Peace Ed and thank you. - Posted by: Debbie DeGroot (Co-worker) on: Oct 04, 2022

  • I too worked as a new parole officer in Ed's unit.He was a patient and tolerant trainer of new staff and a gentleman at all times. It didn't take me long to understand how fortunate I was to learn the job from such a knowledgable and kind man. My condolences to Willie and to Ed's son .I know they will miss him but never forget him. Neither will I. Thanks Ed. - Posted by: Jim Johnston (former workmate) on: Jan 12, 2022

  • Ed was my first supervisor when I began my career with Correctional Service Canada. I was grateful for his mentorship and appreciated the knowledge and experience he shared. I will remember him as well for his patient, kind manner and his commitment to his profession. My condolences to Willy and their son. - Posted by: Pam Gardiner (CSC colleague) on: Jan 02, 2022

  • I was fortunate enough to have been a Case Documentation Clerk for Ed and his group of Parole Officers many years ago. Ed was a pleasure to work with, was keenly aware of policy and procedures, and was always willing to share his knowledge. I always found him to be patient, caring, compassionate and understanding. It is people like Ed that inspired me to advance myself and continue in my career with Corrections. My sincere condolences to Willy and Geoffrey. - Posted by: Alyce (former CSC employee) on: Jan 02, 2022

  • Ed was one of my supervisors for many years. Always appreciated his input in our work and the direction he gave us. My condolences to Willy and their son. - Posted by: Russ Muth (Fellow CSC employee) on: Dec 31, 2021

  • My deepest sympathy Willie. I have many memories of Ed but mostly he was a man who cared deeply for others. He made sure he was always informed and was a guide for all others. Whenever I may have needed any information regarding policy or procedure Ed was the one I went to. Federal Corrections was very lucky he chose them as a career. Between yourself at John Howard and Ed at Parole Services there are many in society that need to be thankful for the life changes you both influenced. May he rest in peace Art Majkut - Posted by: Arthur Majkut (Colleague) on: Dec 31, 2021
