1946 - 2021
Bill was born March 26, 1946, in Winnipeg. He was predeceased by his mother, Evelyn Gordon and father Harold Gordon.
Bill will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 50 years, Tannis Gordon (Layton), his son Daniel Gordon (Jolene), granddaughters, Everly and Sadie, sisters, Janet Loeb (Lawrence), Karen Gilchrist (Alan) and his brother Ken Gordon (Susan). He will be missed by his many nieces and nephews.
Bill attended Glenlawn Collegiate where he met his wife, Tannis, then started working for the Manitoba Government where he retired after 40 years.
Bill had many hobbies including sketching, bowling, and fishing at his cottage at Wanasing Beach. Curling was a big part of his life whether it was curling in a bonspiel or at the club level.
When his son, Daniel, took an interest in football, Bill started the football program at Dakota Community Centre and was on the Board of Directors. He was proud of the football program because he felt it gave the children a good work ethic and developed teamwork. He also coached baseball and soccer.
Bill joined Toastmaster International in 1994. He was always inviting people to come to a Toastmaster meeting so they could improve their communications skills. After his stroke in 2006 he felt Toastmaster was instrumental in helping his speech return to normal.

I was saddened to see the obit in the paper some time ago. Bill and I were cousins but had lost touch many years ago as we grew up. I just wanted to offer my condolences to you Tannis, his wife, and all the family. I remember good times playing in our yard on Norberry, especially with him and Janet. Over the years, I loved sharing tables with you at conferences, enjoying Bill's many speeches, watching him take on any role on demonstration meetings, and in his many capacities in Toastmasters. Oh no way man. Bill was my first and I truly mean this. The best football coach in the world. There really isn't anything I can say right now. I periodically scroll obituaries and expecting to know a few people. This just takes my breath away and breaks my heart. Dan you be strong brother. I see you around periodically, but I am thankful to God for bringing you and your dad into my life. My hidden secret. I never had my dad growing up. Bill was a dear friend in the many years we knew each other, and I was always inspired by his determination and generous nature. His love of family and the time we spent at Toastmasters was inspiring, his sense of humour was persistent, and the stories he shared in his speeches were honest and engaging. Tania, Daniel and family. It is with broken hearts we read about Bill's passing. We have so many wonderful memories of the good times Bill shared at the beach. I am saddened to learn that Bill has passed away. Our parents were long time friends having met while our moms were in the hospital having Bill and I. I have so many wonderful memories of playing with Bill while our parents visited. Always enjoyed our time together!
