June 1933 - December 2021

It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my father, William Sawka. Dad left us at the age of 88 on December 18, 2021, passing away peacefully in his sleep, at home, after a short health decline, after a long, good life.
After his family, Dad's passions were railroads, fitness and gardening. He left high school early to seek employment with CP Rail, where he remained a proud employee for over 40 years, his career spanning the early 1950s through the 1990s. He was a diligent exerciser for his entire adult life, and was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by the YMCA for 50 years of continuous membership. And his "magic touch" with tomato plants was legendary among his friends and neighbours.
He was predeceased by his beloved wife Mary; and parents, Harry and Anna (née Wodonos) Sawka. Left to cherish his memory is his daughter Janice.
According to his wishes, cremation has taken place, to be followed by a memorial and interment at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in his memory to one of his favourite charities: The Canadian National Institute for the Blind Guide Dogs Program, The War Amps, The Canadian Wildlife Federation or the Canadian Diabetes Association (AKA Diabetes Canada).

Thank You Dad, for every moment,
every day, everything.
