It is with broken hearts that we announce the passing of our most dear and beloved mother, Helen Gertrude Mary Dyck, at 1:05 a.m. on December 17, 2021 at the age of 89 years. We believe that she went to join our father and many family members up in Heaven for Christmas.
Our mother will be lovingly remembered and profoundly missed by her children, Randy, (Karen); Brenda, (Lloyd); Darren, (Lori), grandchildren, Branden, Justin, Amanda, Alyssa, Madison, Shelby, Bohdan and Cooper, as well as great-grandchildren, Calin, Jaxon, Carson and Nash who called her GG.
She also leaves to mourn her only living sibling, Fred Bousquet and sister-in-law Edith, and countless nieces, nephews and all their children that referred to her great Auntie Helen, all the friends from the lake, her best friend Liz and neighbour Rosa and the Seniors Centre.
Our mother was an incredibly strong woman and was treasured by her children.
She will be forever missed by a wide and diverse circle of friends and family as she made friends wherever she went.
She was famous for her hilarious spirit, celebrating most events with a Shooter or two or making her famous paralyzers for those that dropped in to visit.
Momma was also the cabbage roll queen making her amazing cabbage rolls for family dinners and special occasions.
Many of us will sorely miss doing face time messenger with our Momma who was completely diverse on her infamous Gizmo. Liz, you were her daily dose of laughter especially since Covid.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Wheeler of Health Sciences Centre as well as palliative Specialist Dr. Nadin Gilroy. You helped us understand and accept our mother's journey. Also thank you to the many special nurses and aides on GB3 who tended to our mother during her last 17 days.
A Celebration of Life will take place by invitation due to Covid restrictions.
In lieu of flowers, donations to our mother's memory can be made to the Children's Hospital Foundation.

  • Our condolences to the family. Helen will always be remembered as a loving caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Helen was special, no matter the occasion, she would always have the magic touch, from serving you a snack or a full blown meal, she made sure to make it so appealing that you would talk about it for days. Helen will be remembered for her talent as a great seamstress and a great hostess. Heaven is waiting with arms wide open for her to join her beloved Swanee. Rest in peace, gone but will never be forgotten Hector & Shirley Paquin - Posted by: Joseph Hector Paquin (Good friend) on: Jan 09, 2022

  • We are deeply saddened to read of the passing of Helen. It comes as a shock as she has been a long time fixture in the neighbourhood. A person couldn't pass by her house without a friendly "hi! How are you doing? How's the family?". Please accept our deepest condolences in the loss of your mother/grandmother. It is truly a sad day for us. - Posted by: Arnold & Shirley Lamboo (Neighbour) on: Jan 08, 2022
