ELEANOR COOK
Peacefully, with family by her side, Eleanor passed away, on December 31, 2021, at Beausejour Hospital.
Mom will be missed by her children, Rodney (Sheila), Karen (Greg), Heather, Kevin (Sandra), Garth (Tricia) and daughter-in-law Ardith. Grandma will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren, Erin, Evan; Steven, Philip, Elyse; Katie, Kevin, Kyle; Avery and Emerson. This past year Mom was happy to welcome three great-grandchildren, Andy, Sawyer and Crew.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Ken in 2013 and her son Donald in 2021. She was also predeceased by two sisters, Beth and Lola.
Eleanor was born in Dugald, MB on July 12, 1928, second oldest in a family of 11. In 1952 Eleanor married Ken. Ken was an entrepreneur, their life together would be anything but dull. Mom supported Dad by keeping the books in his many business ventures, including trucking, farming and road construction. All of this was accomplished while raising their six children.
It was through these ventures that Ken and Eleanor made many acquaintances, many lasting her lifetime. They were fortunate to have travelled the world; locations such as Russia, Europe, The Caribbean and Hawaii. They also spent many years vacationing in Phoenix.
Mom was known for her homemade bread. Weekly you could walk into her home and be welcomed by the aroma of fresh bread. She was never satisfied with anything less than the perfect loaf. Mom enjoyed many types of handwork especially knitting. She was always willing to correct a knitting mistake when one of us had lost a stitch and especially enjoyed teaching the younger ones how to knit.
Mom was an avid sports fan, The Winnipeg Jets her favourite. She loved to discuss sports, politics and current events. Her newest hobbies were Kinsmen Jackpot bingo and reading. There was always a book on her footstool.
Mom looked forward to visits from her family especially the great-grandchildren. Pictures of them always brought a smile to her face. You could always count on Mom to give us a big wave from the living room window as we drove away from a visit. We will miss her!
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Dugald Community Club, Dugald, Manitoba.

My deepest sympathy to all of the Cook family. Growing up in Dugald I remember the Cook family with fondness. There are too many memories to share. Eleanor was always welcoming with a smile. Mostly in the kitchen with an apron on and baking something wonderful. May your memories of your mother help you through this difficult time. - Posted by: Diane (Kruchak) Drover (Friend ) on: Jan 10, 2022
