OLGA DRABYK
(nee PICH)
December 15, 1927 – December 31, 2021
It is with heavy hearts we share the passing of Olga Drabyk on December 31, 2021, at Beacon Hill Lodge.
She was predeceased by two of her sons, Arnold and Ronald; husband Peter; parents and all her siblings. She is survived by her children, Norman, Bev (Ross) Buchanan, Richard, Roger (Alexis) and Teresa (Regan); daughter-in-law Anita; grandchildren, Kevin (Jody) Buchanan, Christine Buchanan, Samantha, Lian, and Cassidy; great-grandchildren, Evelyn and Bennett Buchanan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Olga was born December 15, 1927 in Poplarfield, MB. She was raised there with her ten siblings until she married Peter and settled in Winnipeg. She was a homemaker and working mother raising her seven children on Maryland across from St. Matthews Church and on Ferry Road. At church, she made lifelong friendships which included her 'Stitch 'n' Bitch' ladies. Together, they enjoyed their monthly lunches where they stitched and caught up. She was skilled at crocheting, knitting, and sewing and continued until arthritis slowed her down and her activities. She was a talented cook as well and you could always count on her having perogies, holopchi, and kubasa waiting in the freezer when her children came over. During Olga's later years she enjoyed watching football, hockey, and her favourite, curling.
A stroke almost six years ago moved her to Beacon Hill Lodge where she spent her final years. We sincerely thank the staff on the 9th floor at Beacon Hill Lodge for their loving care of Olga. Thank you to Alexis C. for keeping us connected via Zoom during these COVID times.
