UNA KURAN
1933 - 2022
It is with sadness we announce the passing of Una Kuran (nee McKelvy), January 3, 2022.
She is survived by her son Dale (Diane) Kuran, and cherished grandchildren, Sarah (Cameron) Farquharson and Steven Kuran, in-laws, Lionel and Bea Kuran, as well as many nieces and nephews. Predeceased by her loving husband, Raymond (whom she missed terribly) in January 2000 and her brothers, Vern and Ron McKelvy.
Una grew up in the area around MacGregor, MB.
She went to Normal School to study teaching where she met and married Ray.
Always a teacher, she was happiest helping new Canadians improve their English language skills so they were able to seek better employment.
She loved curling and was a past president, long-time member and avid volunteer of the Elmwood Ladies Curling Club. She loved to knit and donated hundreds of pairs of mittens to the Christmas Cheer Board of Winnipeg.
Never one to pass up a good party, a favourite memory is of her dancing at granddaughter Sarah's wedding with her walker.
Una's family would like to thank the staff at Kildonan House. Special thanks to Glenda and Gary Brauner for always being there.
Cremation has taken place with interment of ashes to follow at Glen Eden Funeral Home and Cemetery. A memorial service will follow this summer.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Arthritis Society.
